Ada Leona Wallace

Ada Leona Wallace, 77 of Fort Gibson, passed away Monday evening surrounded by her family. Leona was born September 27, 1936, in Muskogee to James Upton and Pauline (Wagnon) Upton. She grew up and attended elementary school at Harris-Jobe, then on to Alice Robertson Junior High School and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1954. After graduation she furthered her education by attending St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Leona married John Wallace on June 26, 1999 in Tulsa at Memorial Park Christian Church. They celebrated over 14 years of marriage. Leona enjoyed spending time with her family; some of her other favorite hobbies included garage selling and thrift store shopping. She was a member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fannie Mae Kennedy and Zella Jarrad; six brothers, William Thomas Upton, Richard Upton, Lawrence Upton, Charles Thomas Upton, Kenneth Dale Upton and Paul Dean Upton; a great grandson, Conner Wayne Lee Taylor; and two sons-in-law, David Lee Taylor and Billy Ray Vann. Leona is survived by her husband, John of the home; two daughters, Catherine Taylor of Fort Gibson, Sharon Klingenberg and husband Martin of Tulsa; two brothers, Nelson Upton and wife Norma of Tulsa, and Joe Upton of North Glen, Colorado; one sister, Mary Ruth Ledford and husband Jerry of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Billy Taylor and wife, Brandi of Muskogee, Eric Vann of Fort Gibson, Sascha Klingenberg and wife, Samantha of North Carolina, Nicki Klingenberg of Chicago; great granddaughters, Aubrey Patterson of Muskogee and Lilly Alaniz of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews and other members of the family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Church Of Christ in Fort Gibson, 806 S. Lee, with Minister Dan Rouse and Elder Budo Perry officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Taylor, Eric Vann, Sascha Klingenberg, Martin Klingenberg, Jerry Ledford Jr., and Jerry Keeley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Nelson Upton, Joe Upton and Jerry Ledford Sr.
