Arthur "Wayne" Pearson

Arthur Wayne Pearson, 78, of Muskogee, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 2, 2017. He was born on January 24, 1939 to George Pearson and Elizabeth (Capehart) Pearson in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Wayne was a 1957 graduate of Webbers Falls High School. Wayne was a great athlete and excelled in baseball and basketball. After attending Connors State College, Wayne signed with the St. Louis Cardinals where he played baseball for several years. After his stint in baseball, he returned home and farmed with his brothers until his retirement. Wayne married the love of his life, Carol Jarrard, on June 13, 1958. From this marriage, they were blessed with two children, Arthur Wayne Pearson Jr., (Art) and Melinda Ann Pearson Tollison. He loved having his children and grandchildren visit him. He was an avid OU fan and a huge fan of the Yankees. He was a lifelong Webbers Falls Warrior fan more than anything! Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Modean Pearson Cannon and Lola Faye Pearson; brothers, Billy Ray Pearson and George Donald Pearson. Survivors include his son, Art and wife, Kim, of Gore; daughter, Melinda and husband, Wes, of OKC; grandchildren; Dr. A.J. Pearson III (Tiffany) of Ft. Smith, Ashley Hyde (Matt) of Yukon, Lauren Tollison and fiance’ Kyle Stults of Midwest City, and Madison Holland (Caleb) of Moore; great-grandchildren, A.W. Pearson IV and Hudson Hyde. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carol Fountain; brother, Charles D. Pearson (Jan) of Muskogee; sisters, Lucy Randolph (Larry) of Sallisaw, Shirley Shropshire (Bruce) of Muskogee; sister-in-law, Norma Lou Pearson (Don) of Muskogee; also special niece, Brenda Rogers of Muskogee; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Wayne was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at The Springs for taking good care of Wayne and loving him as they did. The family plans to greet friends from 5-7:30PM, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Wayne’s life will be 2PM, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jack Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Jerry Ward, Terry Ward, A.J. Pearson III, Matt Hyde, Caleb Holland, and Kyle Stults serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Ashley Hyde, Tiffany Pearson, Lauren Tollison, and Madison Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Jarrard, Eddie Ward, James Ross, L.D. Clay, Robert Ross, and Donell Rogers.
