Audrey V. Myers

Audrey Vontcile Myers, age 100, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Born on March 12, 1925, in Monroe, Audrey was the beloved daughter of Roy William and Hildred (Hicks) Irvin. Her life was defined by dedication to family, faith, and the service of others. Audrey attended Monroe public schools and graduated with the Monroe High School class of 1943. Pursuing her passion for nursing, she attended Muskogee General Hospital School from 1944 to 1947. Her commitment to lifelong learning led her back to school later in life, attending Connors State College in 1983 and earning membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity, Mu Chi Chapter, in 1982. Audrey devoted many years of her career as a registered nurse at the Muskogee Veterans Hospital, where she cared for countless patients with kindness and professionalism until her retirement in 1978. Her colleagues and patients alike remembered her gentle spirit and unwavering compassion. On June 7, 1947, Audrey married the love of her life, John W. Myers, in Muskogee. Together, they shared more than 56 years of marriage, raising their family and building a life rooted in love and mutual respect until John's passing on July 31, 2003. A long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church, Audrey was a woman of faith who found joy in community and worship. In her leisure, she enjoyed playing golf, dominoes, and reading—activities she cherished and often shared with friends and family. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Hildred Irvin; her beloved husband, John; her son, James Robert Myers; three sisters; one brother; and sister-in-law, Sue Ann Melton. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Myers; granddaughters, Alicia Myers, Megan Brock and husband Clint; great-grandchildren, Adrian Alexander and husband Chris, Brody Brock, and Piper Brock. Audrey’s life was a testament to the power of service, faith, and enduring love. As we remember her remarkable century, we celebrate a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Audrey will be laid to rest by her husband at 10AM, Friday, November 14, 2025 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made in Audrey’s honor to First United Methodist Church, Food Pantry, PO Box 1623, Muskogee OK 74402.
