Barbara Bookout-Climer

Barbara Gail Bookout-Climer, age 73, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on June 28, 1952, in Muskogee, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Bobby Lee Davis and Marjorie (Tolliver) Davis. She grew up in Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee Central High School, where she built lasting friendships and cherished memories. On August 15, 1998, in Greenbrier, Arkansas, Barbara married the love of her life, Boyd Wayne Climer. Together they shared many wonderful years, building a life full of love, laughter, and family. Their union was a source of great happiness, and Barbara treasured the years they spent together. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found immense joy in watching her son and grandsons race, always cheering them on with pride. She loved playing bingo and making special trips to the casino, creating unforgettable moments with her family and friends. Yet, her most cherished times were those spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—her greatest sources of happiness. Professionally, Barbara dedicated many years to her work at Prestolite as a quality control technician. She also served as a compassionate home health aide, always caring for others with warmth and kindness. Barbara will be fondly remembered for her radiant smile, her generous heart, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love, resilience, and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be forever cherished by her beloved family and countless friends. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Marjorie Davis; her husband Boyd Climer; her granddaughter, Samantha Bookout-Ballard; her sister, Sharon Crain-White; and brother, Scottie Crain. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Mechele Cruz (Sonny); her son, Jeffrey Bookout (Kim); stepdaughter, Tonya Danville (Kevin), and stepson, BJ Climer; grandchildren, Tyler Hopson (Edyth), Bethany Brison (Tye), Amber Chastain (Cole), Shelby Loughmiller (Adam), and Halee Watson (Talon); great-grandchildren, Brantley Hopson, Keela Ballard, Hesston Brison and Abigail Chastain; nephew who she raised as her own, Bobby White (Lisa); and a host of other family members and friends. Visitation will be 9Am-8PM, Friday, August 15, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be 10AM, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Gary McElmurry officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Ronnie Cowden, Willie Fowler, Tim Alexander, Rich Mitchell, Tye Brison and Cole Chastain serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Haley, Jack Mitchell, Chris Cruce, Tyler Hopson, Brantley Hopson, Keela Ballard, Bethany Brison, Hesston Brison, Amber Chastain, Sonny Cruz and Abigail Chastain.
