Barbara Helen Haggard

Barbara Helen Haggard, 79, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1938 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John & Faye Perdue. Barbara attended Muskogee public schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1956. After graduation, she attended Women’s College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked as a professional secretary for City Vending R & M Music from which she retired after a 40- year career. She was also a member of the American Women’s Business Association for many years. Barbara met and later married Robert A. Haggard on September 5, 1975. They shared more than 38 years of life and marriage together. Throughout the course of their life together, they were a shining example to their friends and family of what marriage, trust, and love should be, one thing was certain, they loved each other faithfully and unconditionally. Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Wesley Sunday School class. Bob & Barbara taught Sunday School for the 3 & 4 year old program, for 16 years. Once Barbara retired, she spent time volunteering as the church secretary. She enjoyed spending time with many of her dear friends & serving on the Central High Reunion Committee for many years. Barbara had the best time catching up with friends and getting an opportunity to brag on her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, John & Faye Perdue; sister, Mary Jo Pruden and Michael Haggard. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Shari Cottrell & husband Steve; grandchildren, Joshua Forrest & wife Chelsie, McKinzey Keese & husband Stephen, Ryan Cottrell & Chelsea, Shaun Cottrell & wife Heather, Lindsay Cottrell & Amber; great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Ella, Adalynn, Thomas, Stephanie, Nicole, Shaun, Mikhala, Joshua, Johnathon, Jayden, & Jasmin. Through the marriage of Bob, Barbara gained & is survived by daughter, Robin & Jack Rosenburg & family; grandchildren, Jenee Hensley & family, Abby Hill & family, Zac Tincher & family, Amy Haggard & family, Mindy Kincade & family, Becky Dunlap & family, Michael David Haggard & family; along with her longtime friend, Liz Hearn. Barbara was a compassionate and loving mother and Nanny. She cherished her time with her family and friends and spent countless hours loving on her grand and great-grand babies. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to Dr. Vasireddy and his staff, Dr. Cole and his staff, New Century Hospice and staff, and Economy West and staff. Funeral services celebrating Barbara’s life will be 12PM, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating being assisted by Dr. Jack Kemper. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Joshua Forrest, Ryan Cottrell, Stephen Keese, Shaun Cottrell, Lindsay Cottrell, & John “Judge” Dunn serving as pallbearers.
