Bennie L. Hogner

Bennie Laverne Hogner, 84 of Fort Gibson, OK was born December 11, 1932 in Stilwell, Oklahoma, the son of Adam and Katie (Ketcher) Hogner and passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Bennie grew up in Stilwell and graduated with the class of 1953. In 1960 he graduated from Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training. He married the love of his life, Lydia Wesley, on February 6, 1959 in Sherman, Texas. They shared 53 years of life, friendship and marriage together. Bennie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and OU football fan. Bennie loved his family and friends dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lydia; his daughter, Leesa; sisters, Edna Massey, Elsie Gray, Ollie Guthrie, Marie Hummingbird, Alyene Hogner, Maudine Worley and Wanda Sue Collins; brothers, Jeff Hogner and Kenneth Hogner. Bennie is survived by daughter, Sandra Adair and husband Dennis of Muskogee, OK; his son, David Hogner and wife Sara of Okmulgee, OK; grandson, Solomon “Bo” Adair of Skiatook, OK; granddaughter, Charlotte Meeks and husband Robert of Muskogee, OK; granddaughter, Jessica Daniels and Marquis Dickson of Yukon, OK; grandson, Aaron Hogner and wife Terri of Cherokee, NC; great-grandchildren Hayden Adair of Porter, OK, Jayce Daniels, Lexi-Kai Daniels and Em’Ree Dickson of Yukon, OK; Asa Meeks of Muskogee, OK, Tyce Hogner, Zakya Hogner and Lyric Hogner of Cherokee, NC; his sister, Kathryn Green of Muskogee, OK; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Brenda Tom, Jeanna Cunningham, Northeastern Heath System, Cherokee Nation Home Health Services and Muskogee DaVita Dialysis Center. A celebration honoring Bennie’s life will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Nick Pruitt Officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Hogner, Solomon ‘Bo’ Adair, Robert Meeks, Adam Garrett, David Garrett and Travis Drain. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Bennie’s nephews and family friend Tony Olzawski.
