Betty M. Couch

Betty Mae Couch, age 92, of Allen, Texas, formerly of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026. She was born April 25, 1934, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to George Daniel and Jessie Velma (Dittemore) Lanning. Betty spent her early years in Missouri, attending grade school and later graduating from Benton High School in St. Joseph. After moving to Muskogee, she continued her education and proudly earned her GED. Her commitment to learning and ministry led her to Rhema Bible College, where she attended from 1987 to 1989, receiving both her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. In 1953, Betty married J.C. Benner in St. Joseph, Missouri. Their marriage lasted until his passing in January 1973. In 1984, she married Wayne Couch in Nevada, and they shared life together until his passing in August 2004. Betty devoted her life to ministry. As an evangelist, she traveled across the world, starting churches, preaching the Gospel, and ministering to countless individuals. Her calling took her far beyond her hometown, yet she carried the same steadfast faith, compassion, and dedication wherever she went. Her work touched lives across nations, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy. Those who knew Betty will remember her unwavering faith, her boldness in ministry, and her deep love for people. Her life’s work continues in the churches she helped establish and in the hearts of those she led, encouraged, and inspired. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Daniel and Jessie Velma; son, Larry; daughter, Linda; great-grandson, Dustin; her siblings, Danny, Shirley, Gary, David, Janice, Mary Lynn, Michael, Loretta, and Norman. Betty is survived by her children, Barbara Baker and husband Earl, Sharon Hessler and husband Earl; grandchildren, David, James and wife Regina, Mark and wife Rachel, Josh, Ashley and husband Kirby, Tiffany and husband Dakota, Courtney, John, and Isaac; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Titus, Sidney, Skyler, Riley, MacKenzie, Hadley and husband Colton, Tripp, Gunny, Kaelynn, Klairah; great-great-grandchildren, Tristen, Griffin, Oliver, Eva, Alister, and Wrenny; her brother, Arland; and her dear friend for over 50 years, Freda Morgan, along with other family members. A celebration of Betty’s life will be at 10:30AM, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Orman officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Kirby Kilgore, Josh Baker, Earl Baker, Dakota Lantroop, Earl Heslar, and Coltyn Majors.
