Billy D. "Bill" Cavin

Billy D. “Bill” Cavin, 78, of Porter, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 18, 2015. He was born December 7, 1936 to Hughlin and Melba (Harris) Cavin in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Bill graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the class of 1955. Bill married the love of his life, Rosa Nell Wicks on September 6, 1958 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard and in 1981 he began working as the Staff Sergeant. He retired in 1997 with an honorable discharge. He was presented with the Saint George Medal of Honor of the 145th Cavalry Regiment and the Army Accommodation Medal. Bill was the owner and operator of Bill’s Honda Village of Muskogee for over 14 years. He always enjoyed taking trips on his motorcycle with his friends. He was known by many as “Honda Bill.” He was also an Elder at Chandler Road Church of Christ where he worked with the Golden Agers for 15 years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Mary Sharp. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Nell Cavin of Muskogee, OK; daughters, Nancy Ellwood and husband, Randy of Windom, KS, and Peggy Judkins and husband Darren of Muskogee, OK; son, Larry Cavin and wife Tamara of Muskogee, OK; sister, Rita Lewis of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Derek Ellwood and wife Megan of McPherson, KS, David Estep of Tulsa, OK, Leslie Block and husband Tristan of Wichita, KS, Jenna Adams and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK, Callie Ellwood of Wichita, KS, and Thomas Judkins of Muskogee, OK; great grandchildren, Addyson Ellwood, Isla Block, Andrew Block, Kamdyn Adams, and Calum Block due in August; other family members and friends that will miss him dearly. The family requests memorials be made to the Golden Agers c/o Chandler Road Church of Christ, 3507 Chandler Rd, Muskogee, OK 74403. A celebration of Bill’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Chandler Road Church of Christ with Minister Donnie Branscum officiating. Interment will follow at South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs, OK. Pallbearers will be Derek Ellwood, Thomas Judkins, Darren Judkins, Randy Ellwood, David Estep, and Larry Koch.
