Billy Dock Hawkins

Billy Dock Hawkins, 84 of Muskogee, passed away Friday January 19, 2018 peacefully with his family by his side. He was born March 17, 1933 in Blair, Oklahoma to Anson G. “Hank” and Eura Dolly (Parker) Hawkins. He grew up and attended the public schools at Quanah, Texas, graduating with the class of 1950. He then enlisted with the United States Army and served his country faithfully, receiving an honorable discharge. Bill furthered his education and attended Texas Tech, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. His professional career was with Oklahoma Natural Gas, beginning in 1957 in Shawnee, OK and retiring in 1995 in Muskogee, OK, with nearly 40 years of service. In April of 1956, he married the love of his life, Jeanette Hill, in New Mexico. They shared over 57 years of marriage and life together at the time of her death in 2013. Bill was truly an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He had an especially kind heart for dogs. He and Jeanette enjoyed contributing to local charities for animals. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anson and Eura Hawkins; his wife, Jeanette; grandson, Jeremy Marshall; and brother, Carl Hawkins. Bill is survived by his children, Cindy (Hawkins) Davis and husband Nathan, Diane (Hawkins) Wilson and husband Buddy, William Hawkins and his wife Becky; his grandchildren, Patrick Marshall, Andrew Wilson, Ben Wilson, Rustin Foster, Josh Hawkins and Jessica Hawkins; brothers, Don Hawkins and Dan Hawkins; sister, Annetta Reusch; numerous other family members and many friends. Bill’s family will receive friends Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorials be made to G.I. A celebration of Bill’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Robert Daniel Hawkins, Bill’s brother, officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Joshua Anson Hawkins, William Anson Hawkins, Cary Robert Wilson and Nathan R. Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Rustin Foster, Jessica Marie Hawkins and Patrick Marshall. Interment will be a private family service. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
