Billy Joe Wilson

Billy Joe Wilson, age 86, of Haskell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025. Born on October 28, 1938, in Hulbert, he was the beloved son of George Robert and Thelma (Boling) Wilson. He attended public schools and graduated from Boynton High School in 1957. Billy married the love of his life, Patsy Lucille Johnson, on December 28, 1957, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared a beautiful and enduring love for nearly 68 years. Billy was a proud member of the United States Army, serving from 1957 to 1960. His professional career began at Corning Glass in Muskogee, and he later joined BNSF Railroad, where he dedicated 37 years of service before retiring in 2000. Billy was known for his hard work and commitment throughout his career. An avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman, Billy found joy and solace in the great outdoors. He was a man of the Baptist faith, and his belief in God guided him throughout his life. Billy was preceded in death by his dear parents, George and Thelma Wilson; his sisters, Hazel and Juanita; his brothers, Bobby, JC, Tommy, and Carl; his son, Danny Wilson; and his granddaughter, Dena Pritchett. He is survived by his loving wife Patsy, of the home; his daughters, Donna Posey and husband Bruce, Diana Mullins and husband Mike, all of Muskogee, Patty Williams and husband Lonnie of Haskell; his son, Billy Wayne Wilson of Muskogee; his daughter-in-law, Tanya Wilson; his sister, Carolyn Herrman of Claremore; his grandchildren, Jeremiah Wilson, Minta Jones, Keri Doughty, Roy Bunch, Kyle Cossey, Bristol Cossey, Audrey Pendley, Michelle Mayfield, Alysha Peetree, Taylor Mustin, Jesse Wilson, and Bryce Wilson; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many lifelong friends. Billy Joe Wilson will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his passion for life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be dearly missed. The family will greet friends from 4-6 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 10 AM, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Haskell First Baptist Church with Mr. Caleb Jernigan officiating. Interment will follow at Haskell Cemetery with military honors being presented. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
