Bonita A. Croman

Bonita A. Croman, 91, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away Monday, February 2, 2015. She was born August 30, 1923 in Welling, Oklahoma to Lewis P. Graham and Ollie Mae Thomas Graham. Bonita attended public schools in Tahlequah and graduated from Bagley High School in Tahlequah with the class of 1940. She married her loyal and devoted best friend, Kenneth R. Croman, in 1942 in Norman, Oklahoma. Bonita and Kenneth were sweethearts beginning in the 8th grade and shared 35 years of life and marriage together when he passed away in 1977. Soon after they were married and during WWII, Bonita worked for Rohr Aircraft assembling planes. She took a train to California to meet back up with Kenneth while he was serving in the Navy. Their love was something very special and they could not stand to be apart. Bonita loved nothing more than being a homemaker for her family. She was “Homemaker of the Year” and won many baking, canning, and sewing awards at the county fair. She enjoyed working for the Cherokee County Election Board, being a member of the Garden Club, Republican Women’s Club, and Cherokee County Home Extension Club. She was also an avid bridge player in many clubs. Bonita was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. Bonita was loved by many and will be missed tremendously. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; sister, Carolyn Whitmore; and two infant brothers. She is survived by her children, Dennis R. Croman and wife Janie of Irving, TX, Anthony L. Croman and wife Judy of Tahlequah, OK, Sharon Croman-Drenner of Clearwater, FL, and Terry L. Croman and wife Beth of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Todd Hathaway, Dylis Croman, Paige Habgood, Laura Zimmerman, Cory Bryant, Charles Bryant, Kristen Tyndall, David Bach, Darren Drenner, Erin Tuttle, Kenneth Croman, and Brian Croman; great grandchildren, Richard John Habgood III, Thomas Habgood, Gabrielle Zimmerman, Grace Zimmerman, Scarlett Zimmerman, Olivia Tyndall, Isabeau Tyndall, Alexander Bach, William Drenner, and Matthew Drenner; sister, Jean Lindsey and husband Jerry of Muskogee; many other family members and friends. A private family memorial service is planned.
