Brenda Denton

Brenda Weatherford Denton, 77, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was born on March 29, 1945 to Glease Weatherford and Genevieve (Peeler) Weatherford in Shelby, North Carolina. She graduated from Ellenboro High School with the class of 1963. Brenda married the love of her life, George W. Denton, on July 13, 1991 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many years of life, marriage and family together. Brenda worked at Dillard’s until her retirement in 2007. She also worked at Jaspers as a manager. Brenda loved reading books, doing crossword puzzles, playing trivia and having conversations with anyone who would listen. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glease and Genevieve Weatherford; her husband George Denton; brother, Mike Weatherford; great-granddaughter, Sophia Bass; and father of her children, Jim Bass. Brenda is survived by her children, Dawn Bryant, Jason Bass and wife Traci, and Gena Bass all of Muskogee, OK; sisters, Joyce Davis of Polkville, NC, and Diane Toney and husband Jerry of Mooresboro, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Stewart and husband Joshua of OKC, OK, Seth Bryant of Moore, OK, Shawn Bass of Tulsa, OK, and Kaden Bass and fiancé Cassy Huff of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren, Brandon Nicholson, Gauge, Grace, Tabor, Evie, and Charley Stewart all of OKC, OK; special friends, Arlene Whitaker of Fort Gibson, OK, Jacque Griffin of Muskogee, OK and Andrea Flake of Tulsa, OK; and many other family members and friends. Brenda gave to many charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her name. Family will greet friends 2PM-4PM, Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Brenda’s life will be 10AM, Monday, February 20, 2023 at Boulevard Christian Church with Pastor’s Steve Moss and James McCracken officiating. Pallbearers will be Shawn Bass, Kaden Bass, Seth Bryant, Joshua Stewart, Brandon Nicholson, Gauge Stewart and Tabor Stewart. A private burial will be at a later date.
