Carol Jean Casteel

Carol Jean Casteel, 62, of Muskogee, passed away Thursday surrounded by her family. Carol, a lifelong resident of Muskogee, was born February 12, 1951, to George Washington Berryman and Louise (Harper) Berryman. She attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1969. After graduation she worked for Coburn Optical and Schrader Bridgeport as a Data Entry Specialist for many years. Carol enjoyed being outdoors. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and being at the lake with family and friends. She will be remembered as a very out-going person. Carol’s family wishes to express a ‘Special Thank You’ to her doctors; Dr. Preston, Dr. David Malone, Dr. David Murphy, Dr. Matthew D. Armstrong and Dr. James Bebee. A ‘Special Thank You’ is also extended to all the staff of Northeastern Cancer Center, Med Corp and Rivercross Hospice. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Becky Berryman and her brother, J.C. Berryman. Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Willis of Muskogee; her grandchildren, Becka and Cody Chastain of Muskogee; her great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Zander Chastain; her sisters, Janice Elam and husband Charles of Oktaha, Tammy Castillo and husband David of Muskogee; her brothers, George Berryman and wife Sheryl of Eufaula, Roger Berryman and wife Sharon of Muskogee, Terry Berryman and wife Tammy of Oktaha, and Jeff Berryman of Muskogee; her nieces and nephews, Bryce and Morgan Castillo of Muskogee, Dwayne and Shawn Elam of Oktaha, Sarah Wallis and Karen Berryman of Muskogee, Becky Berryman of Muskogee, Stephanie Berryman of Sallisaw and Jennifer Berryman of Broken Arrow; special lifelong loyal friend, Dorothy Moore of Warner; and her numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Carol will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, OK, with Reverend Gary Ridley officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Elam, Dwayne Elam, Shawn Elam, David Castillo, Bryce Castillo and Gary Casteel. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
