Carolyn Sue Hawkins

Carolyn Sue (Maggard) Hawkins, 70, was welcomed to her heavenly home on April 17, 2016. Carolyn was born on August 3, 1945 to Emery and Louise (Gann) Maggard in Tulsa, OK. She grew up in the small town of Akins near Sallisaw, OK until 1958 when her mom married Ray Noe and moved to Muskogee where she attended Muskogee schools until 1963. Shortly after she married Alfred Mullen and was blessed with a precious son, Donnie. In 1978 Carolyn married Bill Hawkins in Ft. Smith, AR and made their home in Okay, OK. She called Okay home until 2010 when due to poor health she moved in with her son and his family. Carolyn will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family, friends, animals, and especially Christmas. She was well known around Okay as the light lady on the corner and couldn’t wait for the Christmas movies to start on Hallmark. She was known for her kindness and lighting up a room with her beautiful smile. She enjoyed talking to her friends and family, reading her bible, listening to her gospel tapes, and always hoping to see snow in the winter. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hawkins; father, Emery Maggard; mother, Louise Noe; step father, Ray Noe; and oldest brother, Loyal Dean Maggard. Carolyn is survived by her son, Don Mullen and wife Linda of Oktaha, OK; one grandson, Logan Mullen and wife Ashley of Ft. Campbell, KY; two granddaughters, Amanda Mullen and boyfriend Levi Fewell of Muskogee, OK, and Alecia Mullen of Oktaha, OK; four great grandchildren, Zachery, Gracelynn, and Braylenn Mullen of Ft. Campbell, KY, and Londyn Fewell of Muskogee, OK; four brothers, Darrell Maggard of Tulsa, OK, Roy Dale Maggard of OKC, OK, Jerry Maggard of McAlester, OK, and Scotty Maggard of Hydro, OK; six sisters, Melba Orman of Keefeton, OK, Pearl Maggard of OKC, OK, Sharon German of Hillsboro, KS, Judy Kay Tamez of Garland, TX, Rita Peloquins of McAlester, OK and Patsy Isaac of McAlester, OK; many nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and many loved ones. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Orman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, OK with Jimmy Darrell Maggard, Cameron Orman, Steve Maggard, Cale Orman, Lonnie Oman Sr, and Jimmy Stroud serving as pallbearers.
