Carolyn L. Mackey

Carolyn Louise Summerlin Mackey was born on November 11, 1947 in Braggs, Ok. She was the daughter of Jewel McElhaney. She passed away in her home in Muskogee on August 4, 2023. She is now healed and in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Carolyn loved to serve others and this showed in the different professions she chose throughout her life. She was a housewife, construction worker, nurses’ aide and one of her favorites was working at OSU extension where she retired. But she wasn’t finished there, she went on to sit with the elderly where she blessed many families with her love and compassion for others. Not only did she love people, she loved nature! She loved big trees and sunshine. She loved her tiny home aka the “She Shed” and her dogs Cindy Lou and Boo. In her final days she enjoyed sitting on her back porch and watching the hummingbirds she stole from her daughter-in- law Michele. She also loved her church family and friends. She enjoyed her weekly breakfast, lunch and dinner dates with her ladies. Carolyn is survived by her sister, Dee Smith; her children, Wesley Mackey and wife Michele, David and wife Tammy, Clinton and wife Tiffany, Jerry and wife Tanya, and Dusty and wife Penny. Carolyn was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and aunt, but above all, her joy came from being “MEMAW”. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Terra Allen and husband Brett, Jordan Mackey, Tamara Jaynes, Wesley “Bubba” Mackey and Sam Hubler, Cody Mackey, Hannah Mackey and Tyler Hulse, Emilie Hosler and husband Dylan, Austin Mackey and Carly Young, Jessica, Madison, Ramie, Daxton and Cayden Mackey, Kyler Mackey and wife Sydni, and Kalei Mackey; her great-grandchildren, Gunner, Laney, and Rigley Allen, Oaklynn Mackey, Brody Rowan, Raelei Cockrell, Burr Jaynes, Jace Hubler, Macie and Mason Mackey, Myah, Millie and Ava Hulse, Ally Jo and GraceAnne Hosler, Blakely Malone, Reid, Miller and Cathrine Mackey, and AJ England. Carolyn had many nieces, nephews, and special friends. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7:30PM, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 @ Cornerstone Funeral. Services will be 10AM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Southeast Baptist Church. Interment will be at 12:30PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Allen, Bubba Mackey, Cody Mackey, Austin Mackey, Jordan Mackey, Kyler Mackey. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Hulse, Dylan Hosler, Daxton Mackey and Cayden Mackey.
