Charles H. Shouse Jr

Charles Shouse Jr., 76, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1946 to Charles H. Shouse Sr., and Betty (Neal) Shouse in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Chuck graduated from Muskogee Central High School on May 28, 1964. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. Chuck married the love of his life, Roxie Mae Simpson, on November 11, 1967 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 56 years of life, marriage and family together. Chuck worked as a purchasing agent for Gerber Coburn Optical until his retirement. He also worked for Acme Brick Tile and Stone of Muskogee. Chuck was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with is wife during their early married years as well as watching professional bowling on TV. He was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene’s in Muskogee. He was very active with their youth program while his daughters were growing up. He was the director for the church Caravan youth program in which both of his daughters were members. Chuck and his wife also enjoyed participating in the choir at the church. Chuck loved the OU Sooner’s football and softball teams, a love he shared with his youngest daughter, Jenny and her husband, Bobby. He also loved cheering for his St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, even in the tough years! He shared his love of reading with his oldest daughter, Rhonda. Family was very important to Chuck. He loved them very much and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Shouse; mother, Betty Shouse; sisters, Cheryl Catlett and Melody Lindsay; as well as many extended family members. He is survived by his wife, Roxie of the home; daughters, Rhonda Volpe and husband Justin of Tulsa, OK, and Jennifer Howard and husband Bobby of Depew, OK; grandchildren, Maddie Hastings and husband Andrew of Dallas, TX, Andrew Howard and wife Lydia of Okmulgee, OK, Hailey Howard of Depew, OK, Christine Howard of Augusta, GA, and Ryan Howard and wife Summer of Depew, OK; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Austin, Raelynn, Michael, Kelsey, CJ, Harlen and Haley; bonus son and daughter, Bryan and Ashley Hinshaw; special nieces, Christy Luke and Kelli Wheat; and many other family members.
