Claudine Radanovich

Claudine Radanovich, 90, left this world on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 to join her husband, Rudy, for one happy reunion on the streets of gold. Claudine was born on February 7th, 1928, in Portland, AR, to C.D. Bates and Myrtis Copeland Bates. She graduated from Dermott High School and also obtained her cosmetology license in Pine Bluff, AR. Claudine met the love of her life, Rudy Radanovich, who had been stationed as a guard at a POW camp in Jerome, Arkansas. They were married on June 30th, 1947. Rudy, being from Chicago, took his bride to the windy city where they resided for several years. Her family recalls her saying that she was a little girl moving to a big city. She once said that the scariest thing was taking her driver's test in downtown Chicago. Claudine and Rudy eventually made their way back to Dermott where they lived for the next 50 plus years and raised their two sons, Michael and Steve. During their early years, Claudine and Rudy enjoyed dancing at the famous Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, enjoying the music of Glenn Miller and Lawrence Welk. They were the jitterbug enthusiasts. In Dermott, Claudine worked for the local bank 30+ years until her retirement in 1990. She and Rudy loved attending church where they were members, First Baptist of Dermott. Claudine thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and wouldn't miss a family reunion. Claudine and Rudy later made a move to Muskogee when Rudy's health was failing. She always said they should have made the move sooner. Claudine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy; son, Michael; and sister, Betty Jean Chambers. She is survived by her son, Steve Radanovich (Sharla) of Muskogee; grandchildren, Maria Avers (Nathan) of Muskogee, Jessica Russell (James) of Coweta, Chris Radanovich (Courtney) of Norman, OK, and Chastity Law of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Alex, and Zachary Avers, Aubrielle Hawke, and Peyton Law; sister, Rita Jones (David) of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd, with a special thank you to: Rosetta, Jerica, and Tanya. They also want to thank The Springs Administrator, Richard and his staff with a big heartfelt thanks to Karamia, Donna, Samantha, Haley, Arlene, Lucinda, Kiley, Linda, Destiny, Paula, the night staff, and all the other wonderful individuals that helped care for mom. Thank you to Beverly Byrd, Estella and family, and Della Crittenden for the love and care you gave. A family visitation will be 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Claudine’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 23, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Guy Parrish officiating. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Nathan Avers, Chris Radanovich, Hunter Avers, Alex Avers, Wesley Stanley, and Gabe Popescu serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Avers and Peyton Law.
