Clint Cole Barnett

Clint Cole Barnett of Warner, Oklahoma was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma at Muskogee General Hospital June 21, 1961 and passed away at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was a Believer and went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ at the young age of 59. Clint was a graduate of Oktaha High School class of 1979 where he enjoyed playing basketball, spending time with his friends and family, and all things related to quarter horses and horse racing. Clint was gregarious, fun loving, and never met a stranger. He always had many amusing stories to tell anyone who would listen. His love and affinity for horses and horse racing came naturally from his father John and the two had a special bond from spending countless hours together while training and racing their horses on the family farm. This eventually led to a career in training and racing registered quarter horses which took him to many states including New Mexico, Texas, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. After a successful career in the horse racing industry, he transitioned to a new occupation in Topeka, Kansas with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad that spanned 17 years. While in Topeka his love of gardening evolved and he raised beautiful flowers and vegetables and enjoyed sharing his bounty with his neighbors and friends. He also very enthusiastically cheered for his beloved Oklahoma Sooner Football team, which we are sure was much to the dismay of his Kansas Jayhawk coworkers and friends! Clint had a great love for his family and friends and a particular affection for his nephews and nieces. Clint was preceded in death by his dad, John Barnett Sr.; older brother, John Barnett Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Josh and Doris Cole; and his paternal grandparents, Roy and Nevada Barnett. He is survived by his mother, Carol “Red” Barnett of the home; sister, Pam and husband Charles Gosnell of Tahlequah Oklahoma; brother, Jeff and wife Mary Barnett of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and sister, Paula and husband Kendall Cook of Muskogee Oklahoma. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made in Clint’s name to Blue Ribbon Fellowship Chapel, P. O. Box 1901, Sallisaw, Oklahoma 74955. A memorial service for Clint will be 2PM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
