Clyde "Buddy" Powell

Clyde “Buddy” Powell, Jr. 87, of Muskogee, Oklahoma was met at Heaven’s gate by his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 25, 2020. He was born December 25, 1933 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Clyde Powell, Sr. and Ada (Lemons) Powell. Buddy married Barbara J Parker on October 24, 1953 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They shared more than 67 years of life, marriage, and memories. He ministered and pastored multiple churches for over 60 years, including New Hope Assembly, Wainwright Assembly, Jay (FL) Assembly of God, and Warner 2nd Assembly of God. He also lived in San Juan King Valley for 4 years. Buddy was currently serving as the pastor at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church since 1987; a span of more than 33 years. He enjoyed his horses, cows, bird dogs and loved mowing his yard, driving his tractor, fishing and hunting with his friends and family. Most important in his life was God and his family. Buddy loved talking about God and ministering to anyone that would listen. His greatest ministry was going to hospitals and homes to pray for people and visiting people if they were lonely and in need. He loved and treated everyone he met like they were family. The joy of his life were his kids and grandkids. Almost anytime you saw him, one of them would be with him. He has driven every grandchild and great-grandchild to school and back for 36 years, usually grabbing a bite to eat after school. Buddy also loved watching the kids fish and hunt. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. His passing will leave a huge void in the lives of his family, his church, and the community he served. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ada Powell; inlaws, J B and Cleo Parker; siblings, Betty (Otto) Rice, Wanda (Joe) Benttley, James Powell, and Johnny Powell; and son-in-law, Jess Tolliver. Buddy is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Rick Powell; daughter, Pam Tolliver, both of Muskogee; grandchildren, Krysti (Dusty) Nail, Josh Powell, Cody (Autumn) Powell; great-grandchildren, Dakota Nail, Jaron Nail, Rylan Nail, Grace Nail, Patrick Tidwell, Quinton Powell, Uly Powell, Parker Powell, and Maddie Powell; sister, Linda Dornan of Eufaula; sisters-in-law, Carol Powell, Winnie Powell, Suzy (Ron) Nodine, and Janice Herbeck; along with other family members. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7:30pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Buddy’s life will be celebrated 10AM, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church with Bro. Tim Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery with Dusty Nail, Dakota Nail, Josh Powell, Jaron Nail, Cody Powell, and Rylan Nail serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Cyrus Spears, Brian Lester, Weant Weston, and Gene Speck.
