Connie Sue Miller

Connie Sue Miller January 1, 1939 – August 8, 2015 Connie Sue Miller departed this world to be with Our Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 8, 2015, after a lifetime filled with family, joy, laughter, and most of all, love. Connie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on New Year’s Day 1939, to Clarence and Nina Rouse. She grew up in Muskogee with her siblings, Frances Lee, Tom, and Kenneth and attended Muskogee Public Schools, but ultimately earned a GED. She would have graduated in 1956, had it not been for the fact that at the tender age of 17, she was swept off her feet, and married the love of her life, Billy Charles Miller on April 6, 1956. The only thing that could part them after more than fifty nine years of marriage was her ascension to heaven. Connie Sue and Bill laughed, cried, and loved through the next fifty-nine years together and raised three children; Becky, Charles, and Mike. Family was at the center of her entire life, to her last breath. Connie was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker for her family and will be deeply missed. She previously worked for the Muskogee and Baptist Hospitals, the Muskogee Credit Bureau, and as a lecturer for Weight Watchers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Muskogee and lived most of her life in Muskogee. Connie lived her life for her family and was the matriarch and pillar of strength to not only her family but to friends as well. She was an irreplaceable part of our family. Connie was a lady with a flashy and brassy style, but with an adventurous spirit, and a razor wit with keen instincts about people and insights into life that enabled her to provide wise counsel to some that asked for it, and some that did not. She loved people and loved to laugh, joke, and play the occasional prank, especially to embarrass a son, son-in-law, or really any unsuspecting victim. She could choose to hang out many of her professed “shingles” to include, medical doctor, lawyer, psychiatrist, and meteorologist but most preferred to be a detective. She loved music, especially Elvis, Patsy Cline, and Ray Price. She was a League bowler, loved to socialize while playing serious Bingo, loved arts and crafts, and made or crocheted many now treasured items. Connie was preceded in death by her grand-parents, parents, Clarence and Nina Rouse; baby brother, Tom Rouse; and beloved sister, Frances Lee Farmer as well as beloved Aunts, Dorothy Huff and Pearl Cordell. Connie is survived by her loving husband, Bill of Muskogee; daughter, Becky and Don Hopkins of Tulsa; son, Charles and Marilyn Miller of North Richland Hills, Texas, son, Michael and Rebecca Miller of Sand Springs; as well as grandchildren, Jason Reeves, Payton, Paige, and Hannah Miller, Stephen Walloch, Lindsay Walloch, Chris and Ashley Grayson; great-grand daughter, Paisley Miller; great grand-son, Kaedon Grayson; brother, Kenneth and Mary Rouse; cousin, Sonja Pennington; uncle, Jack Huff; cousins, Joel Rhoden, Jennifer Constantine, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services honoring Connie’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Echols officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Charles Miller, Stephen Walloch, Michael Miller, T J Florence, Jason Reeves, and Keyan Stockton serving as pallbearers.
