Danny Wayne Houston

Danny Wayne Houston, 58, passed away on October 6, 2021 in Okmulgee, OK. He was born on October 20, 1962 to Charles Joseph Houston, Jr. and Oma Maxine (Hughes) Bolding in Muskogee, OK. Dan grew up in Muskogee, OK with his two sisters and one brother. He was always looking after them and was a great brother. Growing up his family was very close. They enjoyed going on picnics, fishing, camping and hunting trips. He married at 19 and was blessed with a 4-year-old stepson who he loved as his own. A year after marriage he was blessed with another son. Dan was a man of many trades. As a child he learned how to butcher meat and later in life learned how to dive for shells at surrounding lakes. He also became a self-taught welder. He worked at UNARCO as a supervisor for many years. He later went on to become a truck driver. Dan could do about anything he put his mind to. Dan was a hard worker, but his true love was rodeo. He rode his first bull at ten years old. He team-roped from a young age until his passing. He won many saddles and belt buckles and even made it to nationals in Texas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeoing, golfing and spending time with his family. He was a tough man and when he was blessed with grandchildren his life changed. He fell in love with his grandbabies and they had him wrapped around their tiny fingers. His grandkids could do no wrong in his eyes. When you saw Dan in the roping and feed stores you would always see his grandbabies with him. He loved spending his free time and weekends with them. He loved being a grandpa. Dan was preceded in death by his mother, Oma Maxine Bolding; father, Charles Joseph Houston, Jr.; grandmother, Padie Hughes and grandfather, Walter Lee Hughes. He is survived by his sons Hondo Houston and wife Ashton of Muskogee, OK, Perry Ray Hatcher and wife Kelley of Coweta, OK; grandchildren, Lily’ann Houston, Danny Houston, Brandon Hatcher and Bryan Hatcher; siblings; Joe Houston of Muskogee, OK, Candi Houston Spears and husband Danny Spears of Muskogee, OK, April Bryan and husband Jeremy Bryan of Boynton, OK and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rex Griffin officiating.
