Daytha Ann Murr

Daytha, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on February 27, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, to Lynn and Allene Adcock, Daytha grew up in Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee Central High School. She was a strong and devoted Christian woman, whose faith was the foundation of her life. At the age of 17, Daytha met the love of her life, James. From that moment on, they were in love, and their bond only grew stronger with time. They married on August 8, 1969, and their love story became a beautiful example of devotion. For 55 years, they shared an extraordinary life together, full of joy, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Daytha often spoke of how incredibly spoiled and cherished she felt by James, and their relationship was truly a testament to the greatest love of all time. Together, Daytha and James built a home on a farm in Oktaha, Oklahoma, where they spent the past 51 years. She found great happiness in the life they built together, and their home was always open to family and friends. One of Daytha’s greatest joys was working in her flower garden. She loved filling her home with the beauty of her flowers. She was a dedicated homemaker while raising her children, always ensuring her family was cared for. As her children grew, she began working at Dr. Soper’s Eye Clinic, where she worked until she retired in 2010. She also had a passion for baking and cooking for others. Her cooking brought comfort and happiness to all who were lucky enough to enjoy it, and her love was truly felt in every dish she made. Above all, Daytha loved being a “Nana”. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and just the right touch of sass. No matter the distance, she remained a constant presence in their lives, making sure to video call them often, sharing in their joys, stories, and everyday moments. Her family and friends, as well as everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, will remember her as a woman of grace, strength, and an infectious spirit that made everyone feel welcome and loved. Daytha is preceded in death by parents, Lynn and Allene Adcock; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Dorthy Murr; her son-in-law, Andrew Ashwood; and brother-in-law, David Fletcher. She is survived by her devoted husband, James; her children, Jennifer Ashwood, and Michelle and Jeff Selby; her sister, Carol Fletcher; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Glenna Murr, John and Rhonda Murr; her grandchildren, Haley and Cody Dean, Abigail Ashwood, Roper and Hannah Selby, Baylor Selby, and Brooklyn Selby; and her great-grandchildren, Molly and Emryn Dean, and Hazelynn and Bristol Selby. Rest in peace, Daytha. Your legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of all who loved you. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Daytha’s life will be celebrated at 2PM, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Muskogee First Assembly of God Church with Mr. Jerrod Murr officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Cody Dean, Nate Lane, Cody Lane, Roper Selby, Josh Murr, and Olin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Lane, Jeff Selby, Baylor Selby, Mark Mullen, Randy Eller, and Jerry Needham.
