Dee Shelton Davison

Dee Shelton Davison, 80, passed away on March 23, 2021. Dee was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Jack and Marian Martin (Davison). Dee attended Riverside Elementary School and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1958 and attended Northeastern State University, and later formed his own construction company, Davison Custom Masonry. Dee was a remarkable man, a faithful servant to God, devoted to his family, a hard worker, and a loyal friend. In Dee's passing, so many have said in earnest, "what a good man." Such true words, and nobody knew this more than those closest to him, his wife of sixty years, Sue Davison of the home, his sons Randy and Doug, the daughters he always wanted Sherri and Ronia, grandchildren, Brandon Davison (Katie), Ryan Davison (Chelsea), Lindsey Davison, and Cheyanna Davison. Great-grandchildren, Ethan, Drake, Kalyn, Ryder, Brielle, Reese, and Sawyer. Son Randy Davison, mother Marian Davison, and great grandmother Mildred Wilson, sister Sandra Thayer, and brother Gale Davison precede Dee in death. His love of God and family mark Dee's legacy. He was faithful in all that he did. Dee was a charter member of Riverside Christian Church. He served as elder and deacon at Riverside Christian Church and York Street Christian Church for most of his adult life. He taught Sunday school and had a profound knowledge of the Bible. His wisdom was a source of inspiration for many, and he never missed an opportunity to speak up for the Lord and tell the good news. It was said that Dee was the same man on Sunday morning as he was on Saturday night. We are all made better by his Christ-like example. Dee loved his family. He adored Sue and always made sure that she was well cared for, and her life as his wife was a great one. Dee worked very hard and so that his family had all that they needed. Dee was incredibly proud of his family. His sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren respected him immensely. All of them are trained up in the way they should go by his shining example. His love of the outdoors followed Dee's love of God and family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Some of his best times were spent on a boat or in the woods surrounded by his sons, grandsons, and a host of cherished lifelong friends. Dee had many favorite fishing and hunting destinations, including Mexico, Lake Guerrero, Slidell, Louisiana, and Colorado Rocky Mountains. He loved planning every detail of the trip, including the menu. The stories from his travels have been told and retold to the point that even if you were not there, you felt as if you were. His walls are full of hunting trophies and prize fish, but nothing was more valued than the treasured memories made with those he held dear. Dee loved to tinker and fix things; some were not necessarily broken. He modified machines and anything with moving parts with a myriad of unique applications, including duct tape, wire, and gorilla glue. His engineering skills are to be marveled at; we all learned that you never throw out what can be repaired, and your mind is the most important tool in your toolbox. Dee loved to laugh. He was intelligent and quick-witted, with an endless supply of jokes and stories that he was happy to share and share he did. Once he acclimated to social media, our inboxes were kept busy, as he loved us to see the latest thing that made his heart smile. We will miss the notification sound on our Facebook Messenger at all hours of the night. Our inboxes and hearts will surely not be as full. "What a good man" people are right Dee Davison was a "good man," a befitting descriptor of our cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Our hearts will miss all that he generously gave to us. Life here won't be the same not hearing his gentle but booming voice or getting one of his strong, warm hugs, seeing his eyes glisten with mischief as he told one of his silly jokes, receiving his Chex Mix at Christmas, or hearing him sing gospel tunes slightly off-key. We are comforted in the understanding that Dee is safe with his Lord and Savior and reunited with many loved ones and friends that have gone on before. Be inspired by all of the goodness that Dee cast into this world, keep the faith and fight the good fight until we gather again. A celebration of Dee’s life will be 10AM, Monday, March 29, 2021 at Muskogee Church of Christ with Bro. Steve Moss and Mr. Kendall Dean officiating.
