Dolores "Colleen" Jackson

Dolores “Colleen” Jackson, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the age of 81. She was born September 26, 1932 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Woodrow Wilson and Hattie Irene Trout Wilson. Colleen attended Manitou Springs Schools in Manitou Springs, Colorado and later moved with her family to Oklahoma where she attended Checotah High School and graduated with the class of 1950. She furthered her education at Connors State College and later attended Northeastern State University where she graduated in 1962 with her Bachelor’s Degree. While at Connors, Colleen met the love of her life, Harry Lee Jackson, Jr. They married on June 3, 1951 in Checotah, Oklahoma. They celebrated 62 years of marriage together as Harry preceded her in death on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Colleen began her career at Warner Public Schools as the Superintendent’s Secretary. Her passion for helping and loving children was very evident as she furthered her education and became an elementary and middle school teacher. She retired in 1988. Colleen was an avid sports fan. She took great pride in attending games and cheering for her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. “Nana” treasured special times with her family. She and Harry hosted family holidays and made each moment fun. Colleen was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Warner. She was also active in various groups and functions in the Warner community. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Harry Jackson Scholarship Fund, c/o Connors State College, 700 College Rd, Warner, OK, 74469. Colleen was loved by many and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Irene Wilson; her husband, Harry Jackson, Jr.; her daughter, Deborah “Debby” Stout; and her in-laws, Harry Jackson Sr. and wife, Edith. Colleen is survived by her son, Mike Jackson and wife, Jan of Keefeton; son-in-law, Don Stout of Elm Grove; grandchildren, Melissa Hill and husband, Kevin of Muskogee, Jeremy Jackson and wife, Jennifer of Warner, Michael Jackson of Keefeton, Misty Jackson of Dallas, TX, and Eric Stout of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hill, Wyatt Gassaway, Kandra Hill, Levi Gassaway, all of Muskogee, Jace, Jordan, and Jake Jackson, all of Warner; her sister, June Martin of Dewey, OK; brother-in-law, Jerry Jackson and wife, Nelda of Oklahoma City, OK; nieces and nephews, Nancy Lanford and husband, Darrell of New Mexico, Don Jackson and wife, Karen of Austin, TX, Steve Jackson and wife, Tina of Edmond, OK, Keith Martin and wife, Natalia of Bend, OR, and Stacey Martin of Bartlesville; many other family members and special friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Colleen’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Warner, Oklahoma with Rev. Sam Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Warner Memorial Cemetery with Jeremy Jackson, Michael Jackson, Eric Stout, Wyatt Gassaway, Levi Gassaway, Jace Jackson, Jake Jackson, Kevin Hill, Stacey Martin, Keith Martin, Don Jackson, and Steve Jackson serving as pallbearers.
