Donald "Don" A. Briscoe

Donald "Don" Briscoe passed away on Sunday, December 14 at the age 74. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, OK. with Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating. There will be a private family interment. Pallbearers will be nephews, Darrel Atchison, Curtis Boyd, Phillip Henderson and Harley Jr. Seabolt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Boyd and Robert Capps. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Don was born on March 12, 1940 in Muskogee, OK to Malcolm and Anna Mae (Pruitt) Briscoe. Both parents died when he was 4 years old. Don was raised by his maternal grandmother in Glendale, CA. When she passed away, he came back to Muskogee and lived with his paternal grandmother. Don started his pipeline career in 1958. He joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 627 in 1959. His work took him to various states and overseas to Libya and the Persian Gulf. In 1976, Don went to work for National Steel Erectors where he worked until he retired in 2002. Working for National Steel took him to many places in the United States as well as Puerto Rico and Iceland. After Don retired, he enjoyed working outdoors keeping his lawn looking great, sitting on the porch with his wife, Bonnie and their dogs Mitzi and Ace, playing Texas Hold’em with family and friends, watching golf and Nascar. Don is survived by his loving and caring wife of 55 years, Bonnie; a son, John Briscoe of Tulsa, son and daughter-in-law Ron and Sheri Briscoe of Carrollton, TX, a daughter, Rhonda Wallace of Tulsa; four grandchildren, Morgan Briscoe, Alex Briscoe, Austin Wallace and Emily Wallace; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Fred Stewart. Don had many nieces and nephews and loved each of them very much, along with a special cousin, J.R. Tillotson of LaGrande, OR, and Don’s very dear friend since 1956, Gerry Dixon. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hometown Hospice for their dedication and effort to provide quality care. It was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. When they first came into our lives they told me, we are your family now and they have been there everyday. We thank God for the gift of Don’s life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
