Elmer Lloyd Hunt

Elmer Lloyd Hunt, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed from this life through death into eternity on Tuesday, the 18th of July 2023. Lloyd believed our Lord Jesus Christ was the Son of God and is now with Him and many loved ones in Heaven. Lloyd was born to George and Myrtle Hunt on the 23rd of March 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of 6 children. He loved his parents and all his brothers and sisters, Willie, Fred, George, Alma and Thelma; and especially his grandmother. Lloyd grew up in Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee Central High School, class of 1949. Lloyd joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and served during the Korean War. The location of his campaigns were the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., Patterson Air Force Base, (First Combat Unit) and the Pacific campaign during the Korean War. He was an aerial photographer. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Upon returning home he married Gloria Harrison on the 30th of August 1957. During this time Lloyd had started working for B. Rosenberg and Sons based in New Orleans, LA. He worked for them the majority of his life. In his later years he worked for Southern Leather until he retired. Lloyd loved life and he loved to laugh. He was smart, generous, and fun loving. He loved to travel, and he and Gloria had numerous vacations with their family and with their friends; going countless places and if driving, the Lincoln was going 90 mph with music playing. Or kids were in the backseat laughing or fighting. Lloyd respected all faiths. He believed in “Live and let live”. Mom and Dad raised us to love God, to know right from wrong, they forgave us when we failed and picked us up and helped us find our way numerous times. They were the best. Thank you to The Jack C. Montgomery VA Center for all your help with Dad over these last years. So much kindness was shown, and we are forever grateful. Thank you Dr. Thein, Green Team, and all the nurses and receptionists working for this team. Many others there helped Dad, kindness was shown and a desire to help. Those left to remember and love Lloyd are his daughter, Cindy Burnham and her husband, Tony Burnham; his daughter, Sandy Sands; his son, Hal Sands; his grandchildren, Whitney Sands Thornton, Ryan Burnham Ellis, and Leigh Anne Burnham Craig and her husband Chas Craig; his great-grandchildren, Mallory Thornton, Connor Ellis, Vivian Ellis, Caroline Craig, Norah Craig and Everett Craig; his sister-in-law, Barbara Harrison; and his special friend and companion, who he shared his last years with, Soo Short; and numerous nieces and nephews, he loved you all. Private family services are planned.
