Eveline Christian

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eveline Christian, on the morning of Wednesday, November 19, 2025. She was 97 years young. Her passing was peaceful, and she is now resting in the arms of her heavenly father. Eveline was born on August 20, 1928, in Witcherville, Arkansas to Samuel Bass McKinney and Dorthy Ann (Brown) McKinney. Eveline lived a good, long life where her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, shared lots of love and laughter. She always had a story to tell about some cherished childhood memory in the hills of Arkansas or about some crazy adventure(s) she had been a part of either as a child or an adult. No one could say that her life was boring! Those that knew her the best described her as feisty, opinionated, loving, compassionate, and always up for an adventure. In her later years she was happy to just sit at home in her recliner, all cuddled up with her favorite furry blanket and watching reruns of her favorite old westerns on TV. She also loved to listen to good, old-fashioned gospel music (sometimes a little more loudly than she probably should have). Her faith in the Lord is a great comfort to us all, because we know that we will all be together again, as one of her favorite songs says, “in the great by and by.” Eveline was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Bass McKinney and Dorthy Ann (Brown) McKinney; her sister, Farris Denton; and two brothers, Raymond McKinney and OB McKinney (all of Arkansas). There was also her first husband (the father of her children), Leland Forrest Clement; her grand-daughter, Melissa Dawn (Clement) Ellis; her second husband, Calvin Jay Christian; and her daughter-in-law, Donna (Rogers) Clement. She is survived by her sisters, Marie Humphrey and Uneva Darneal both of Greenwood, AR; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her children, Rose (Clement) Hammer and husband Kent, Don Clement, and Patricia (Clement) Hill and husband James; her grandchildren, Roger Hammer and wife Kim, John Hammer and wife Tina, Amanda Sue Oglesbee and husband Patrick, and Nathan Hill; granddaughter by choice, Miranda Spears; grandson-in-law, Josh Ellis; great-grandchildren, Morgan Hammer and boyfriend Braden, Alex Hammer and wife Jennifer, Emily Dawn (Ellis) Wilson and husband Tobias, Madilyn Rose Ellis, and Arrabella “Bella” Thomas; and great-great-grandchildren, Hadley and Beau Hammer. A celebration of Eveline’s life will be 11AM, Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Hammer and John Hammer officiating.
