Floyd A. Brassfield

Floyd "Flossy" Andrew Brassfield, 77, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was born February 28, 1939 to Charles and Zadie (Jones) Brassfield in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Floyd married the love of his life Judy (Bolinger) Brassfield on June 3, 1964 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. They celebrated 38 years of life and marriage together. Floyd work as a Firefighter in Muskogee for 22 years and as a boilermaker until his retirement. Floyd loved being a dad and grandfather (Poppy) to his children. He loved to tinker in the garage and was a Volkswagen enthusiast. He never passed up a chance to strongly persuade his son and grandson to attend a car show. Floyd loved watching classic movies and playing his guitar. He often attended fiddler and bluegrass festivals. Most importantly, Floyd loved spending time with his grandchildren and serving his family. He was also a faithful member of The Assembly in Broken Arrow. He built a legacy that is of strong Christian faith that is reflected in his sons and passed all the way down to his grandchildren. Floyd will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Zadie Brassfield; his loving wife, Judy Brassfield; as well as 9 brothers and 2 sisters. Floyd is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly and Jean Brassfield of Broken Arrow, OK and Kalyn and Lori Brassfield of Sachse, TX; grandchildren, Andi and Bryce Clark, Kali and Pat Bell, Lauren Brassfield, Ryli Brassfield, Audrey Brassfield, Caden Brassfield and Destiny Brassfield; two great grandchildren, Myles and Maxton Clark; brother, Kenneth Brassfield; sister, Evelyn Shelby; and numerous other family members and friends. A "going home" celebration will be officiated by his son, Pastor Kalyn Brassfield, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N York in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Friends and family will celebrate a father, a Poppy and friend that was loved and respected by all. Following the memorial service there will be a graveside service at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee. Honorary pallbearers will be Andi Clark, Kali Bell, Lauren Brassfield, Ryli Brassfield, Audrey Brassfield, Caden Brassfield, Destiny Brassfield, Randy Brassfield, Roger Bolinger, and Jack Gilmore. In lieu of flowers, we are asking family and friends to make donations to the House of Joy Orphanage in Ukraine.
