Gail Ashworth

Linda “Gail” Ashworth, 70, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. She was born August 7, 1952 in Oakland, California to Alfred Wesley and Willie Mae (Box) Dudley. She attended public schools and graduated from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, California with the class of 1970. Gail married the love of her life and best friend, Donald Oliver Ashworth Jr on August 19, 1972 in San Leandro, California. They shared more than 48 years of life, marriage and making memories. Gail and Don moved their family to Muskogee where they made their home. Her primary job was being a homemaker and taking care of her family was her #1 priority. She was also a devoted wife and caretaker for her ailing husband. They owned and operated a restaurant, “Mama Mia’s” for several years where she loved cooking and serving the many friends that she made. She attended Timothy Baptist Church where she actively served and enjoyed fellowship with her church family until her health began to fail. She loved spending time planting flowers in her flowerbeds. She loved crafting and was known for her personalized Christmas trees that she made for friends and family. Cooking was her specialty. She was famous for her carrot cake, snickerdoodle cookies and lasagna. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Most of all with her grandkids; the light of her life. To know her was to love her and all her long conversations. Gail will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Willie Mae Dudley; and her husband, Don Ashworth Jr. Gail is survived by her daughter, Traci West and husband James; son, Dustin Ashworth, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Chelsi Jacobs of Broken Arrow, Trey Ashworth of OKC, Aubri West and Candon West, both of Muskogee; sister, Debra Ayers of Salt Lake City, UT; aunt, Bennie Eller of Muskogee; cousin, “bonus sister” and caregiver, Pam Jestice of Muskogee; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 3-5PM, Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Gail’s life will be at 11AM, Monday, August 15, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Dustin Ashworth, James West, Trey Ashworth and Candon West serving as pallbearers.
