George Robert Bean

George Robert Bean, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was born on October 17, 1934 to Sidney Cornelious Bean and Daisy (Christie) Bean in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was a high school graduate and attended Northeastern State University, where he met the love of his life, JoAnne Finley. They were married in August of 1954 in Tulsa Oklahoma and shared many years of life, love and many memories together. George was a banker at 1st National Bank in Tulsa, and at 1st National Bank in Muskogee for 25 years. He started out as a teller then went to commercial lending. He was president of two small banks in Tahlequah and Jenks, but eventually went back to commercial lending. George retired from Bank of America in 1996. He was very community minded and gave blood every week of his adult life until he had chemotherapy. George was a member of the Muskogee Rotary Club and volunteered for United Way. He was the head cook for Commercial Bank in The Chili Cook Off for many years. George was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Muskogee. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. George was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Daisy Bean; his loving wife, JoAnne Bean; and son-in-law, Thomas Basile. George is survived by his daughters, Sydney Basile of Tulsa, OK, Stacey Downing of Tulsa, OK, and Stephanie Stacy and husband Noel of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Kenyon and husband Rendon of Geneseo, NY, Christopher Basile of Tulsa, OK, Beau Downing and wife Kara of Tulsa, OK, David Downing of Dallas, TX, Jessica Alexander and husband Zach of Muskogee, OK, and Brian Stacy and wife Christina of Muskogee, OK; great-grandchildren, Ayrton Kenyon, Joplyn Downing, Morgan Downing, Raven Downing, Baylee Hall, Racen Stacy, Nora Kate Alexander and Oliver Alexander; and many other family members and friends. A celebration of George’s life will be 3PM, Friday, November 18, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Muskogee with Rev. Patrick McPherson officiating.
