Harvel D. "Wayne" Howe

Harvel Dewain “Wayne” Howe, 83, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wayne was born on February 11, 1931 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Elza Howe and Eunice Martin Howe. His younger years were spent in Tahlequah and later moved with his family to Arizona. Wayne was very proud to serve his country joining the United State Air Force. He would later receive an Honorable discharge. He met and later married his best friend, Elizabeth Kay Stevens on June 25, 1977 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They celebrated over 36 years of marriage. Wayne worked for Acme Engineering from which he retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed going to the lake and being a table caller for the Creek Nation Senior Citizens Center. He was quite the chef, “The Bomb”, as he was known, as his specialty was making deer chili and deer jerky. Wayne was also known as “Copperhead” as his CB handle. Wayne’s greatest joy came from being husband, father, and grandfather and spending time with everyone at big family gatherings. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Patrick Howe; his brothers, Roy and Calvin; his sister, Betty Howe; and his in-laws, John and Goldie Stevens. Wayne is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kay, of the home; his daughter, Marqueta “Patches” Goad; his sons, Tommy W Howe, John C Howe and wife Andrea, all of Muskogee, J Michael Howe of Tucson, AZ, and L. Dewaine Howe of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Jason Goad, Stephanie Kemp, Colt Howe, Judy Howe, Kobe Howe, and Kayden Howe; his great grandchildren, Gunner Kemp, Jacee Goad, Boone Goad, Gabby Kemp, Colton Howe, Dewayne Howe, Derrick Howe, and Adrick Howe; his sisters, Patricia Axtell and husband, Robbie, Linda Courtney, all of Stillwater, Geneviene O’Brien of Buckeye, AZ, and Pauline Hubb of Mitchell, NE; his brothers, Joe Howe of Buckeye, AZ and Johnnie Howe and wife Donna of Wister, OK; many other family members and friends. Funeral services celebrating Wayne’s life will be 10:30 am, Monday, March 17, 2014 at Christian Chapel with Rev. Conrad Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Jason Goad, Bobby Kemp, Layne Polzin, Scotty Goodman, Jay Goodman, and Harold Goodman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kobe Howe, Kayden Howe, Gunner Kemp, Colt Howe, Boone Goad; his son-in-law, Gerald “Bub” Goad; and his brother-in-law, Robbie Axtell.
