Hazel Margaret McFadden

H. Margaret McFadden, May 11, 1938 - June 6, 2026, of Muskogee, OK, was a beloved daughter, aunt, and dear friend to so many. She is survived by her nephew, Mark McFadden, and his wife, Donna, of Muskogee, as well as her great-niece, Jessica Winchester, and her husband, Tobias, of Clarion, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her Father, Jesse M. McFadden, and his lovely wife, Leila; her brother, Gerald W. McFadden; and her sister, Dixie Hawthorne. Margaret had fond memories of attending grade school with her mother as her classroom teacher, and she attended Jr High at West Junior before attending Central High School. After graduating from CHS, she went to work for the Muskogee Daily Phoenix. A job she enjoyed and was proud of. One day, while working for the paper, she attended an open house at the newly opened Container Corporation of America. During that tour, she told a friend who was with her that she was going to work there someday. She would later apply for employment there and was hired as a receptionist and switchboard operator. She would go on to become the plant’s customer service manager, a position she would hold until her retirement. She was extremely proud of her work while employed there and made many friends during her years of service to CCA. After retirement, she spent her time gardening and making improvements to her yard and home, making it quite the showplace. She also traveled extensively in the company of her mother, as well as her nephew Mark and wife Donna. She loved making short trips to Branson to see her dear friends Rebbeca Perrault and Francois Cabuchola. And of course shopping and taking in many great shows. Mountain View, Arkansas, was also a favorite getaway, as she really enjoyed watching the locals in that area perform amazing folk music. Margaret also enjoyed cruising, and she, along with Mark and Donna, as well as a host of friends, enjoyed 14 cruises traveling to many beautiful parts of the world. Margaret was an avid sports fan. And above all, a huge football fan. She was a devout Sooner fan and could talk college and professional football better than many sportscasters. In recent years, she also became an Oklahoma City Thunder fan and watched them any time they were on TV. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of Sacred Heart church, which would later become St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N York St, Muskogee, OK 74403, Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 1-5 a.m. with her funeral service to be 2PM, Monday, June 15, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Private burial will follow. In place of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Muskogee Masonic Temple Building Inc., at MMTB PO Box 1037, Muskogee, OK 74402, a 501c3 entity charged with the preservation and restoration of one of Muskogee’s beautiful and historic landmarks. The Masonic Temple is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
