Imogene Vinzant

Imogene Thornton Vinzant, 71, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, November 30, 2015. She was born February 10, 1944 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Herman Thornton Sr and Ocey Marie Bell Thornton. She attended Braggs Elementary School, West Jr High School and Casa Grande High School. Imogene married the love of her life, Danny Jack Vinzant, in July of 1971. They shared many years of life and marriage together. She worked as a hair stylist for many years and retired in 2009 from Rofflers of Muskogee. Imogene enjoyed sewing, painting, and doing ceramics but most important was spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her greatest joy. She shared a very special relationship with her son, Jessie. He spent time with her and cared for her every day. The family wants to thank him for his loving care and devotion for his mother during her final years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ocey Thornton; her sons, Jerry Vinzant and Johnny Serrato; her brothers, Jerry Thornton, Johnny Thornton, and Bill Thornton; her sisters, Brenda Braiser and Myrtle Sweed Jackson. Imogene is survived by her daughters, Dana Pruet and husband Josh, Vicki Harmon; son, Jessie Serrato, all of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Candice Frazier of Dallas, TX, Steven Harmon and wife Megan, Jessica Serrato, Jonathon Serrato, Taylor Wade, Tristen Wade, Tatum Wade, and Tanner Wade, all of Muskogee, OK; great grandchildren, Braylin Frazier of Dallas, TX, Hunter Harmon and Sutton Harmon, both of Muskogee, OK; sister, Peggy Thornton of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Roy Thornton, Buck Thornton and wife Janet of Muskogee, OK; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends that will miss her dearly. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the staff at Eastgate Village for their love and care over the last four years that was shown to Imogene. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Imogene’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Tatum Miles Wade, Tanner Mason Wade, Jonathon Serrato, Jacob Braiser, Josh Pruet, and Eric Murphy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Thornton, Roy Thornton, and Jessie Serrato.
