Jackie Lee Wofford

Jackie Lee Wofford, 65, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was born March 31, 1958 in Big Spring, Texas to Joe Harold Wofford Sr and Barbara Sue (Ritchie) Wofford. Jackie moved with his family back to Oklahoma and graduated from Okay High School in 1976 where he enjoyed playing baseball, running track, and creating art through sketches and paintings. He married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Hooper on January 5, 1979 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They shared more than 45 years of life, marriage, and memories together. He worked many years at Georgia Pacific and retired in 2006. He started his own business, Wofford Electric, in 2006 which he continued to operate until 2022. Jackie was highly regarded as one of the best electricians in Muskogee County and was truly a “Jack of all trades.” Jackie’s greatest hobbies were restoring classic cars, spending time with his family, and always helping anyone in need; even people he had just met. He also loved coaching his kids and grandkids in baseball. Jackie’s passing leaves a legacy to be honored and treasured by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wofford Sr.; his in-laws, Joe and Mary Lou Ballard; his friend and brother, Tommy Barnett; along with other loved ones. Jackie is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Wofford of the home; his mother, Barbara Sue Wofford; his children, Erica Bales, Jared Wofford and wife Lisa, all of Muskogee, Nick Wofford and wife Blaike of Bixby; his bonus son, Jared Million of Hutto, TX; his siblings, Joe Wofford Jr and wife Sharon, Jesse Wofford and wife Rockie; his grandchildren, Haley Bales, Katy Wofford, Story Bales, Crosby Wofford, and Murphy Wofford; along with numerous beloved family members and friends. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be at 2PM, Friday, March 8, 2024 at York Street Christian Church with Rev. Gene Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Robbie Ellis, Jeff Wofford, Jordan Wofford, Earnie Bales, Lanny Yarbrough, Chris Bales, Brad Wofford, and Nate Faulk serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Yochum, Don Moore, Abner Miller, Adrian Beachel, Mark Draughon, Phil Oney, Roy Rhodes, Tody Etchison, Luke Etchison, Kevin Etchison, Russ Scott, Gary Miller, Brent Henry, Sean Mannon, Adrian Camp, Jerry Johnson, Jeramy Hooper, Caleb York, and so many other close friends.
