James "Jim" Stauss

James Franklin “Jim” Stauss, 77, longtime resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Karen Stauss of the home; daughter, Susan Duncan (Kevin), of Chewey, OK; son, Stephen Stauss of Denver, CO; brother, Bill Stauss (Kay) of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Luke Littlejohn (Brittany) of Tahlequah, OK, A02 Levi Littlejohn of Naval Air Station, Oceana and his fiancé A02 Amber Taylor of Naval Air Station Norfolk, VA, and Sarah Littlejohn of Tahlequah, OK; great-grandson, Jaxon James Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-law, Janie Harrison of Muskogee, OK; several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marguerite Stauss; father-in-law, James Harrison; and brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Susan Roberts. Jim grew up in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and spent many hours on Tenkiller Lake with his boat teaching skiing lessons. In 1961 he moved to “The Hill” to attend OMA Military Academy in Claremore, Oklahoma, where he graduated from in 1964. He returned to Tahlequah to attend Northeastern State College, and where he owned and operated Sixkiller’s BBQ Restaurant. Later he moved to Tulsa where he began a 40+ year career as a painting contractor that he continued to manage till his death. He loved his work and strived to make his customers happy with a job well done. In December of 1983, he met and married his wife, Karen. They shared 37 years of life together. Jim was a longtime member of St. James Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he faithfully served. He was also very devoted to his mother-in-law and was involved in taking care of her and getting her to church. Jim will be greatly missed by many who loved him, but we know we will see him again soon. We have all learned a lot of life lessons from him and how to love and to look for the good in every person and situation. He leaves a Godly legacy that will live on thru his family and friends. The family will receive friends 5:30PM-7:30 PM, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A celebration of Jim’s life will be 11AM, Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. James Church 5050 E 111th St. Tulsa, OK with Rev. Gary Harber and Jason Canady officiating. Interment and the final handshake will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Moss officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Delaughter, Luke Littlejohn, Levi Littlejohn, Waylon Dill, Aaron Roberts, and Sequoyah Rattler.
