Jayne Ellen Smith

Jayne Ellen Smith, 59, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016. She was born December 25, 1956 to Henry and Anoree (Bowling) White in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Jayne attended Longfellow Elementary, West Jr. High, and graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1975. Jayne went on to Northeastern State University and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Management in 1981. Jayne married the love of her life, Alfred C. Smith on November 13, 1975 in a Christian church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared over 40 years of a happy life and marriage together. Jayne worked at Phoenix Federal Saving from 1975 – 1981 and then worked as the Comptroller at Muskogee Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 1998. She was a Boy and Girl Scout’s leader, and the treasurer of the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa. Jayne was also, the treasurer and on the board of directors for the Kelly B. Todd Cerebral Palsy & Neuro – Muscular Foundation. Jayne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved cooking, traveling, and loved spending time with her family. Jayne was very family oriented and loved to volunteer at the schools where her children Daniel and Becca attended. Jayne was loved by everyone that knew her and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becca Smith; nephew, Jeremy M. Glad; and special friend, Tennie Cogburn who was like a daughter to the family. Jayne is survived by her husband, Alfred Smith of the home; son, Daniel Smith and wife Amanda of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Mia and Finn Smith of Broken Arrow, OK; siblings, Howard White and wife Phyllis, Cherryl Burkett and husband Alan all of Muskogee, OK, and Ronnie White of Bruno, AR; nieces & nephews, Nicki Arriaga, Holly & Brian Brown, Brad & Carressa White, Kevin & Alicia White, Aaron & Becky White, Patricia Thornton & Robert Schwarzkopf, Michelle & Jeff Arellano; sister-in-law; Becky Thornton of Muskogee, OK; numerous grand nephews, nieces, and cousins; as well as her extended family at Broadway Manor Nursing Home. Jayne's family will receive family and friends 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Brad White, Kevin White, Aaron White, Brian Brown, Robert Schwarzkopf, and Jeff Arellano serving as pallbearers.
