Jennie Bernice Reid

Jennie B. Reid entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2020, at Eastgate Village in Muskogee, OK. Jennie was born on October 27, 1921, near Carthage, MO, to Blanche Robb Hull and Harlie H. Hull. Jennie grew up in Wentworth, MO, and as a teen, worked in a peony nursery in Sarcoxie. After graduating high school in Pierce City, MO, she married the love of her life, Lowell O. Reid. They were married in Springfield, MO, by her uncle, Rev. Fred Robb. Jennie was a much loved wife, mother, and homemaker as they raised their three children, Don, Dee, and Jan, near Seneca. There she was a member of the extension club, and also the PTA, helping with school activities, pie suppers, plays, music festivals, spelling bees, and Harvest Show parades. They attended First Presbyterian Church in Wentworth, where their parents resided. After moving to Muskogee, OK, in 1958, they joined Immanuel Baptist Church where Jennie ministered to both youth and the elderly, planning and working with banquets and other activities. She was also active in the Women’s Mission Union. She and Lowell later joined First Baptist Church where they were blessed by great Bible Teachers and friends. Jennie and Lowell were known and loved for their hospitality. They did everything together. They enjoyed entertaining, crafts, gardening and canning. Jennie’s greatest love was for her Lord Jesus and her family. She was highly regarded as a faithful prayer warrior who could be depended on to fervently go before the Lord on behalf of others’ needs. Her children fondly remember her having daily Bible studies each morning before the school day began, teaching them as young children about the love of Jesus. Besides her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lowell, as well as her brothers, Roy, George, and Ralph, and her sister, Helen. Her daughter-in-law, Sue, also went to Heaven after battling a long illness, and was followed by their son, Don. Their much-loved grandson Chris, left this earth all too early, also. Jennie is survived by her daughters, Delores Chaney Coffman of Mt. Pleasant, TN, and Janet (Carroll) Bolinger of Muskogee, OK. She is also survived by six grandchildren. Don’s children include Sherry Dunkelberger, of Denton, TX, and Susan (Lyle) Mathis of Hooker, OK; Dee’s children, Gina (Bob) Jandreau and, Kevin (Tunisia) Chaney of Mt. Pleasant, TN; and Janet’s children, Crystal Sacra of Tulsa and Gregg (Candace) Bolinger of Wichita, KS. Jennie and Lowell’s great-grandchildren include, Michael and Matthew Dunkelberger; Toni, Grady, and Kylie Mathis, Justin (Lacey) Jandreau, Mason (Paige) Jandreau, and Ashten (Steven) Andrews, Dakota and Cheyenne Chaney, Benjamin, Alex, and Christian Bolinger, and Henry and Stella Sacra. They are also blessed with four great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Harlie Andrews, and Jake and Savannah Jandreau. They also have many beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jennie’s life will by 10AM, Friday, June 5, 2020 at Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Roger Flint officiating. Family will greet friends 5pm-7pm, Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York St, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
