Jerry Dale Cason, Sr.

Jerry “Budgie” Dale Cason, Sr., 74, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016. He was born January 11, 1942 to Claude Cason and Jewell (Garroutte) Cason-Chase in Porter, Oklahoma. Jerry attended Porter Elementary, West High School, and received his GED in the United States Army. Later, he attended Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma where he obtained his Associates Degree. Jerry served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After 3 years, he received an honorable discharge. Jerry married the love of his life, Ruby Bernice Stiles, on December 12, 1976 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared over 39 years of life and marriage together. He worked at Brockway Glass for several years until his retirement in 1998. Jerry attended Christian Chapel in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He loved to go fishing, antiquing, and collecting stamps and model cars. Jerry also loved traveling with his family and his wife in his later years. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy and he could answer almost all the questions. He also enjoyed planting a garden every year, and was very generous to his family and his friends by giving them fresh vegetables. Jerry will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jewell Chase; father, Claude Cason; brothers, Bill Cason, Bob Cason, J.C. Cason, and Paul Cason; and sister, Imojean Beard. Jerry is survived by his wife Ruby Cason of the home; children, Jerry D. Cason, Jr. and wife Leslie of Muskogee, OK, Cynthia Fields and husband D.P. of Broken Arrow, OK, Kristy Finney and husband Shon of Muskogee, OK, Glen Pate and wife Kristy of Smithville, MO, and Cindy Lu Messer and husband Trevor of Porter, OK; grandchildren, Joshua D. Cason, Michael Cason, Emily Finney, Samantha Finney all of Muskogee, OK, Kara Fields and Paul Fields of Broken Arrow, OK, Savanna and Carter Pate of Smithville, MO, Corey Messner, Ashley McLemore, Spencer Messner, John Phillips, and Kayla Phillips all of Porter, OK; great grandchildren, Audrey and Dakota Messner of Coranado, CA, Isaac Cason and Amelia Cason of Muskogee, OK; former spouse, Karalee (Smith) Cason of Muskogee, OK; brothers, Don Cason of Stevensville, VA and James Cason of PA; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. His family will be receiving visitors from 5:30pm - 7:30pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of life will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Christian Chapel with Pastor Rick Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors presented. Pallbearers will be Shon Finney, Michael Cason, Trevor Messner, Spencer Messner, Joshua Cason, Carter Pate, and Brian McLemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clark and Bill Jarrard.
