Jerry A. Hiseley

Jerry Albert Hiseley was born on July 10, 1937, to Tommie Monroe Hiseley and Robbie Jewel (Keith) Hiseley in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of nine siblings and they grew up in the Warner area. He graduated from Warner High School in 1956 and started his lifelong career at Jake’s Home Appliance, which later became Odie’s Home Furnishings in Warner. He sold, delivered and repaired furniture and appliances and even helped build several homes around Warner with Jake Tarkington. Jerry could repair any appliance and kept busy with service calls until he retired at the age of 70. In 1956, Jerry met Maggie Belle Whitley in Porum and they began dating. After Maggie and her dad moved to California that summer, she received a letter from Jerry asking for her hand in marriage. She asked her dad if she could get married and he said, “if that’s what you want to do.” So Maggie got a ticket for a Greyhound bus back to Oklahoma and actually made it back there before her letter replying “Yes” to the marriage proposal did. Within the next week on August 28, 1957, Jerry and Maggie married. It was an eventful week in the Hiseley household as siblings Jim and Ann were also married within that week. In October of 1958, Jerry Wayne “Pete” was born and then Marsha Ann was born in January of 1960 and the family was complete. Jerry and Maggie lived in Warner throughout 60 of their 68 year marriage. Then they spent the last 8 years living in Muskogee near their son. Jerry was a member of the Jaycees of Warner and a bowling league in Muskogee. He enjoyed playing dominoes and poker with his friends, and later on he enjoyed going to the casino. He liked to go fishing and loved to watch sports. He was a die-hard Warner Eagle fan and liked watching Pete play baseball, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed eating good food and Maggie enjoyed cooking, so it was a match made in heaven! Jerry loved to listen to southern gospel music, especially Jimmy Swaggert. He and Maggie were saved and baptized at Warner First Baptist Church on October 30, 1980. They raised their children to respect and fear the Lord, to have good manners, and to be good people. He was preceded in death by his parents Tommie Monroe and Robbie Jewel Hiseley; his sister Teresa Boydstun; his brothers-in-law Tony Martin, Jerry “Mahoney” Hutson, and Steve Stout; and sister-in-law Jan Hiseley. Jerry is survived by his wife Maggie; son Jerry “Pete” Hiseley and wife Paula; daughter Marsha and husband Dr. William Barnes; four grandsons, Brett Allan Hiseley (Kaelab), Tyler Whitley Barnes (Chotsie), Jacob Thomas Hiseley (Emily), and Ethan Whitley Barnes (Alexa); his grandchildren are Felitai Bear and Aster Wolf Hiseley, Isabella Rose and Bishop Whitley Barnes, Vincent and Victoria Satterfield; his seven surviving siblings are Jim Hiseley (Phyllis), Ann Martin, Terry (Sue) Hiseley, Jan Stout, Pam Hutson, Keith Hiseley (Leacia), and Neshia Smith (Art) along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be at 2PM, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tyler Barnes officiating.
