Jessie Madalyn Bingham

Jessie Madalyn Bingham, 96, of Muskogee, OK passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was known by family and friends as Madalyn or Maddie. She was born on May 11, 1925 to Mart and Rose (Proctor) Smith in Scottsville, AR. Jessie attended Elm Grove elementary school, Checotah High School for a short period, and graduated from Onapa High School in 1946. She married her best friend, Arthur Lee Bingham on December 15, 1956 in Muskogee, OK. They shared two daughters and 45 happy years of marriage together. Jessie spent much of her life as a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She worked outside of the home periodically at Grant’s Department Store, JC Penney’s and S & H Green Stamp store but always preferred being a homemaker. She was also very involved at her home church, West Side Church of Christ. There she taught Sunday School classes for 35 years, was the education supervisor for the preschool department, worked in the education supply room and in the church benevolent center. She enjoyed flower gardening, shopping with her daughters, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bingham; parents, Mart and Rose Smith; brother, Billy Ray Smith; sister, Irene Wiles; and daughter, Linda Kay (Bingham) Spotts. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Murrie and husband Albert; grandchildren, LeeAnna and Logan Murrie of Muskogee; son-in-law, Ron Spotts of Muskogee; grandchildren, Adam Spotts and wife RaeAnne of Craig, CO and Will Spotts and wife Ami of Porter, OK; great-grandchildren, Nolan Spotts of Craig, CO, and Lani and Bradley Spotts of Porter, OK; and a special niece, Shannon Mosley and husband Keith of Las Vegas, NV. A viewing and visitation of family and friends of Madalyn will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 3-5pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Madalyn’s life will be 10am, Monday, September 27, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Harry Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow at Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, OK.
