Jimmie L. Dishman

Jimmie Lee Dishman, 75, a longtime resident of Braggs, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 10, 1948 in Yale, Oklahoma to Frankie Lee and Audrey Faye (Back) Dishman. He graduated from Union Public School. Jimmie proudly served his country as a highly decorated veteran and member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, a Sergeant E-5, in Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. He received an honorable discharge. He married the love of his life, Sandra Sue Swenke, on May 26, 1968 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They shared more than 56 years of life, marriage, raising a family, and making memories together. Jimmie worked in the construction industry for many years including concrete, dirt work, and builder. He found much pride in farming his own land and tending to his animals. He also was a bus driver for Braggs Public Schools. He will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was one of the most important things in his life along with being a born-again Christian. He will also be remembered as an “all round jokester”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie and Audrey Dishman, his son, Jimmy Dishman; his grandson, Tyler Visor; his son-in-law, Darrin Visor; his brothers, Bill Dishman and Eddie Dishman; his nephew, Dalton Hutchinson; and seven premature grandbabies. Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sandra, of the home; his children, Sonja Dishman (Jamey) of Braggs, Marsha Dishman Alleman of Council Hill, Kevin Dishman (Nikki) of Braggs, Chris Dishman (Crystal) of Muskogee, Adam Dishman (Brooke) of Warner, Jeff Swenke, Shanna Swenke and Katrina Swenke, all of Fletcher, OK; his grandchildren, Dakota Visor, Makayla Visor, Brandon Gauntt, Jimmie Dean Dishman, Sloan Dishman, Cheyenne Dishman, Brendon Stites, Sierra Dishman, Raylin Manning, Savanna Dishman, Colton Burk, Madison Dishman, Bo Dishman, Brystal Dishman, Canyon Miller, Sierra Rose Miller, Kindra Overton, Nic Overton, Caden Dishman, Caleb Dishman, Waylon Dishman, and Adysen Dishman; his great-grandchildren, Emerson, Ellie, Etta, Everly, Kash, Klay, Britlee, (Gpa’s lil firecracker), Bryson, and two more due this fall; his siblings, Connie Nishamuta, Jeannie Richardson Fowler, and Sharon Dishman; along with many close nieces and nephews that he considered his own, and other family members and friends. Jimmie’s life will be remembered at 2PM, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Braggs Gymnasium with Pastor John Overton and Mr. Danny Doolin officiating. Interment will follow at South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs with military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Dean Dishman, Dakota Visor, Caden Dishman, Caleb Dishman, Canyon Miller, Waylon Dishman, and Bo Dishman. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McKinney, Luis Newball aka Duvall, Eddie Dishman, Booger Dishman, Johnathon Dishman, Teddy Nishamuta, Terry Nishamuta, Brandon Gauntt, Brendon Stites, Raylin Manning, Colton Burk, Wayne Richardson, Kenny Richardson, Chris Carr, Gary D. Schlinkert, Berry Bargus, and Andy Shipley.
