Jimmy Leon Wilson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Leon Wilson who departed on February 9, 2024. He was born on October 6, 1960 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Tom and Alma Wilson. He attended public schools and graduated from Fort Gibson High School with the class of 1978. In addition to being a loving son and brother, Jimmy was a loyal and trusted friend. His life was a testament to staying true to oneself, which he did through his passionate pursuit of music and the outdoors. Jimmy impacted the lives of countless individuals with his humor and generosity. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be forever treasured. His legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Jimmy proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. His primary occupation was in computer operations. He received an honorable discharge in November, 1982. In May of 1999, Jimmy moved to Eagle River, Alaska. It served to be a very special time in his life that generated many lifelong friendships and memories. He worked many years as a bartender at various pubs and restaurants. He also worked for several years in computer programming for some businesses. Jimmy’s passing leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Wilson. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Alma Morris and husband Dick; brother, Tommy Wilson and wife Lisa; brother, Barry Wilson; nephews, Tanner Wilson, William Darbe, and Charlie Boudreaux; nieces, Taylor Wilson, Rachel Darbe, Elizabeth Boudreaux, Grace Wilson, Lily Darbe, and Ellie Darbe; stepmother, Doretta Wilson; along with a host of step siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who will continue to honor his memory in their hearts. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM, Monday, February 19, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials can be made in Jimmy’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be at 12:30PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Kenny Payne officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be Barry Wilson, Brian Nutt, Alex Reynolds, Stuy Stuart, Scott Wiseley, and Virgil Fleming. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Stretch and Jerry Walker.
