Joean Morton

Joean Morton, 83, of Cedaredge, Colorado, formerly of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. She was born March 11, 1939 in Haysi, Virginia to Andy Jack and Martha (Davis) Baker. She attended public schools in Virginia. Joean married the love of her life, Wadie Louis Morton on December 4, 1970 in Oceanside, California. They shared many years of life, marriage and memories. She worked at Ace TV and Appliance, Bestyet Groceries and retired in 1996 from Hughes Lumber Co. Joean enjoyed bowling, playing golf, reading, and played softball for the women’s FOP league where she served as the president. She loved watching her grandkids play sports and attending all their activities. She also loved attending church with her daughter and granddaughter. “I am blessed to have children and grandkids who love the Lord.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Martha Baker; husband, Wadie Morton; siblings, Virgil, Vernon, Elmer, Fred, Hobert, Arnel; sister, Virginia Renaldo; and grandson, Christopher Kunze. Joean is survived by her son, Terry Steven Wade and wife Susan residing in Colorado; their children, Joean’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Matthew Wade and his daughter Alyssa Wade, Jeremy Kunze and wife Kelley and their children, Chayce, Jordan, Jayda, Grant and Christopher, Lizzie Shelton and husband Randy and their children, Sawyer, Elliott and Harper. Joean’s daughter, Donna Roberson and husband Roy of Muskogee; their children, Joean’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Haley Vanderveer and husband Jon and their children, Alexa, Leighton, Callen, and Taylor; Dustin Roberson and wife Jenna and their children, Jude and Cohen. Joean’s daughter, Mundy Beauvais and husband Steve, their children, Austin Seabolt and wife Brittney, Myranda Seabolt, Ashton Walton and husband Jake and their daughter Collins; and grandson, Connor Beauvais; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Joean’s life will be celebrated at 2PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Boulevard Christian Church with Rev. Steve Moss officiating. Interment will follow at Pettit Cemetery with Johnny Teehee, Ron Yates, Andy Simmons, Dave Henry, Reggie Cotton and Blake Simmons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Perryman, Tom Spriggs, Rex Eskridge, Jim Shoemake, Sam McDaniel and Allen Simmons.
