Joy F. Weaver

Joy Fern Weaver, 81, a lifelong resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. She was born March 30, 1932 in Muskogee. Joy spent most of her early years working in a nursing home and always put others before herself. She devoted her time to her family and her church family. Before she was saved, she would go with her husband to play poker with the guys and loved to go to Vegas. Joy loved to cook and never went by a recipe. She also enjoyed traveling and fishing. Her favorite fish to eat was perch. Joy was hard headed and loved to argue. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Weaver Sr.; sisters, Rosie Jones, Jeri Jessie Hodge, and Marie; brothers, Kenneth Morrison and Marvin Morrison; granddaughter, Michelle Vay; and grandson, Patrick Ryan. She is survived by her sons, Kerney Weaver Sr. and wife, Sharon of Muskogee, Olen Weaver Jr. of Muskogee, Roy Lee Weaver Sr. and wife, Sherri of Braggs; stepdaughters, Saundra Arnold of Pinole, CA and Patsy Hinch of Concord, CA; grandchildren, Peggy Ann Smith and husband, William of Guthrie, OK, JoAnn Keifer of Broken Arrow, Kerney Weaver Jr. and wife, Lena of Muskogee, Roy Weaver Jr. and wife, Jana of Owasso, Jennifer Weaver of Muskogee, Doug Vay of Tulsa, and Karen Barbara of San Leonardo, CA.; great grandchildren, Dalton Garrett Keifer, Allie Keifer, both of Broken Arrow, Kaden Weaver, Kelten Weaver, Kinden Weaver, Dai’Shawn Allen, Bryant Allen, Austyn Allen, all of Muskogee, Parker Vay of Tulsa; Jake Ramsey, Justin Ramsey, both of Owasso, Julian Barbara, Leila Barbara, both of San Leonardo, CA, Jessica Ryan of Pinole, CA, Kiaran Ryan of Muskogee; cousin, Beverly Cowan of Muskogee; her good friends, Sonny Eddows, Jean McElroy, and Erma Dean Hulsey; many other family members and friends. Funeral services celebrating Joy’s life will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lawrence “Bo” Gann officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Dwayne Royse, Sonny Eddows, Virgil Lewis, Benny Keifer, Dalton Keifer, and Joe Fletcher serving as pallbearers.
