Joyce Ann Epperson

It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Ann Epperson announces her passing. Joyce was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on May 6, 1937 to Albert E. And Georgia Epps. She was a Muskogee resident her whole life. Joyce was baptized at First Baptist Church in Muskogee as a young girl. She attended school in Muskogee and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1955. On April 13, 1956, Joyce married the love of her life, Vernon Carl Epperson. Some people may say it is bad luck to get married on Friday the 13th, but for them, they were happily married for almost 69 years. From this union, they had three sons; Dan Epperson, Donnie Epperson, and Gary Epperson, 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Christmas gatherings at her house were always a highlight of the Christmas season. She will always be remembered as an amazing wife, mom, sister, aunt and grandma. She was always there for all of her family, extended family and friends. Joyce worked in retail sales early in her adult life. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and ceramics. She also enjoyed working in her flowerbeds. Joyce and Carl bowled on a couples league for Brockway Glass for several years traveling through Oklahoma and Missouri. Joyce and Carl were also quite the dancers and could really cut a rug on the dance floor. Her love, wisdom and strength will continue to guide us all and her memory is a source of comfort and inspiration. Even though she is gone, her spirit will live on in the lives of those she touched and her legacy will live forever. She will always be in our hearts. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Carl Epperson; her parents, Albert E. and Georgia Epps; brothers, Albert D. and Lee Allen Epps; sister, Karen D. Plant. She is survived by her sons, Dan Epperson and wife Tish, Donnie Epperson, all of Muskogee and Gary Epperson of Ft. Gibson; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Epperson; brother-in-law, Jim Bever; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Joyce’s life will be celebrated at 2pm, Friday, November 21, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Mr. Eric Epperson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with her grandsons, Gary Epperson, Bryan Epperson, Jacob Epperson, Aaron Epperson, Adam Garner and Jason Garner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews.
