Juanitta Lindsey November 15, 1922-January 12, 2016 Juanitta Lindsey, loving mother, grandmother and Mimi, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family at her home, “The Springs” of Muskogee, OK. Juanitta was born November 15, 1922 in Indianola, OK to James Frances and Mary Francis Elliott, the youngest of 5 children. Juanitta lost her parents at a very young age and spent several years of her childhood in an orphanage until her brothers were old enough to take care of her. At the age of 15, she met and married the love of her life, Gene Lindsey. Three children were born to this union. They were married 63 years at the time of his death. Juanitta’s greatest love was spending time with her family. She enjoyed preparing special family dinners for holidays and birthdays. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, fishing, canning, sewing, speed walking, yard work, and raising the most beautiful roses and flowers. Juanitta was always the life of the party and full of energy. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, wife, and grandmother to all. She never met a stranger and made sure everyone felt welcome in her home. Juanitta was so proud of her home and family, and took great pride in caring for them. She will also be remembered for her love for Elvis Presley. Juanitta is survived by her son, Jerry Gene Lindsey; daughters, Anita Jones and husband Clyde, all of Muskogee, OK, and Marylyn McCutcheon of Prescott, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Becky Anderson and husband Tony, Terryl Lindsey and wife Malinda, Dan Lindsey, Kimberly Castor and husband Von, Stephanie Garner, Jennifer Braun, Gary Sorrels, Jerri Jones and husband Alan, 15 great grandchildren, Dustin Muskrat and wife Michelle, Erin Volf and husband Joe, Ashton Lindsey, Ryan Anderson, Hillary Pearson and husband Chris, Lauren Maxwell and husband Lance, Mariah Lindsey, Mallory Blaylock and husband Kevin, Haleigh Carrier and husband Alan, Lindsey Garner, Colby Cox, Gage Garner, Kasidy Jones, Kalen and Jaron Castor; 4 great great grandchildren, Cale Pearson, Nathan and Aiden Volf, and Karson Lindsey; other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring the life of Juanitta Lindsey will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bob Hancock officiating. A private family interment will follow at Coleman Cemetery in Porum, OK. She will be next to her one and only love, Gene. Pallbearers will be Terryl Lindsey, Dan Lindsey, Brandon Jones, Chris Pearson, Alan Carrier, and Lance Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Colby Cox, Gage Garner, and Jaron Castor.
