Kathy S. Thompson-Anderson

On April 15th, 1959 a beautiful baby girl was born to Alfred and Georgia Thompson in Muskogee Oklahoma. They named their little blessing Kathy S. Thompson. Kathy went to be with her Lord and Savior in her eternal home on March 26, 2022. Kathy was the fourth of six children. She was taught about love and God from an early age. She accepted Christ and was baptized at St. Mark’s Baptist Church. She attended Douglas, Jefferson and Grant Foreman Elementary Schools. She learned to play softball and loved it. Kathy played softball and ran track while attending Alice Robertson Middle School. Kathy graduated with honors from Muskogee High School in 1978. She continued to further her education after graduation. She attended Virgil’s Beauty College and became a licensed beautician. Kathy became a mother to three beautiful children, Shonika “Cocoa”, TaByas and Stephanie. She loved them dearly and began to think about becoming a teacher. She continued her work as a beautician and a secretary to support her family. In 1992 she married Ronnie Anderson and together they grew in their faith. Like her mother, Kathy taught her family about love, God, and praying. She and her husband would go on to become licensed ordained Elders. She was known as a “prayer warrior” praying for people all over the world. Kathy loved to go fishing: she found it relaxing. She was also big on family. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and she did that for her family. Anytime she got the opportunity to gather around family she did. Her motto was “it’s nothing like family; you better enjoy them while you can.” After her children were grown she enrolled at Bacone College and graduated in 2011 with her associates and in 2019 graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was inducted into Alpha Chi and both times she graduated with honors “cum laude”. Kathy substituted at various schools in Muskogee. After graduation she was employed by Muskogee Public Schools and worked at Creek Elementary School. She proudly taught and loved her 2nd graders. The pandemic came and affected many first year teachers job security for the next year. She later moved to Tecumseh to assist her granddaughter with school and find employment. Kathy was an extraordinary woman always encouraging and supporting those around her. The world has truly lost a beautiful soul. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Georgia Thompson; maternal and paternal grandparents; and two grandsons, Dontrell Thompson and Tommy Thompson. She leaves those to celebrate her legacy, her husband Ronnie Anderson of Summit, OK; daughters Shonika Thompson of Tulsa, Rev. Stephanie Stephens of Tecumseh, son TaByas Thompson of Muskogee; two sisters Patricia Clemons, and Sheri Mitchum both of Muskogee; stepchildren, Ronnie Anderson Jr. and wife Ketha, and LaKisa Sims; five grandchildren Harold Thompson “Jr”, TaByas Thompson Jr. “TJ”, Cheyenne McGuire, Sarah Stephens, Kingston Thompson; ten in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Friday, April 1, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Kathy’s life will be celebrated at 2PM, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home 1830 N York St Muskogee, OK 74403.
