Kimberley "Kim" Ann Rila

Early on Sunday, November 14, 2021, Kimberley Ann Rila took her last breath. She died in the comfort of her home with her grand dog, Nala, by her side. Our world became less bright and our hearts are shattered with the loss of such a beautiful, kind, caring, and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. How do you fit 54 years of life into a few paragraphs? Kim was a light to everyone who knew her. Whenever she walked into a room, she was the highlight of the party. She had fun wherever she was. Her smile was contagious. She never knew a stranger. She played basketball for the Warner Eagles in high school, was designated MVP, and voted Homecoming Queen. After obtaining her high school diploma in 1985, she attended Bacone College for a short time. Kim had two beautiful children, April and Blake. She was a dedicated mother who loved her children. As a family, they made memories that will forever be cherished. Kim was the wife of David Rila. Married on September 15, 2006. Dave fell in love with Kim at first sight. She was his soul mate. Kim received two bonus daughters when she married Dave, Heather and Lisa. Kim had a difficult time with her health from a young age, but you would never know it. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a two-time kidney transplant recipient. She was the best patient. She was strong and brave. She never complained, even though she had every right to. She was always happy to see a new day. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies. She gave life to everything she touched. She was proud of her flowers and often shared photos of their beauty. She also enjoyed painting and was becoming quite the artist. In the summer, you could find Kim sunbathing by the pool or swimming in the lake. She loved watermelon and Extra gum in the green package. Naps were a necessity. And she loved her coffee and cigarette in the morning. Music was an enormous part of Kim’s life. She always had a song in her head in the mornings when she awoke. There was often music playing wherever she was. She enjoyed going to concerts and listening to her husband, Dave, play bass. Over the years, Kim welcomed many people into her home and life. With her love, she left a lasting impact on their lives. She was kind. She was beautiful. She was sweet. She was funny. Kim lived life to the fullest. Kimberley is survived by her husband, David Rila of Muskogee; daughter April Chesser and spouse, Kimberly Chesser of Muskogee; son Blake Chesser of Muskogee, stepdaughter Heather Rila Dorman of Muskogee; and brother James (Jim) Duncan of Iowa. Preceding her in death was her father, Ronald Duncan; mother, Grace Duncan; and stepdaughter, Lisa Rila. Visitation for Kimberley Ann Rila will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home of Muskogee, OK from 1-5 on Saturday, November 20 and 1-5 Sunday, November 21. Her service will be held at The First Baptist Church of Muskogee on Monday, November 22 at 1:00 P.M. followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. “You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye.
