Lea Ann Sterling

Lea Ann Miller Sterling was born on July 9, 1958 to loving parents, James Edward Miller and Charlotte (Dodson) Miller and passed from this life on May 5, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She grew up in Muskogee and attended Houston Elementary, Alice Robertson Junior High School and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1976. Lea Ann Miller Sterling married her high school sweetheart Terry on September 17, 1976 and began her life as a wife and mother. Lea Ann spent her whole life loving and taking care of her family members, friends and her patients in the community. Lea Ann expressed her love and compassion for her brother Mark when it came time to care for him at the end of his life. She honored her brother’s devotion to the Sooners by regularly attending OU games in later years. She was an outstanding cook, skills she learned from her mother Charlotte and has passed that talent on to her son Winston. She had a lot of pride in her grandson Jordan as his Nana for his ability to work hard and be a good and kind person. Lea Ann endured personal losses over the years, meeting these heart-breaking challenges with grace and courage. She has many friends whom she loved to spend time with, laughing, telling stories and enjoying a refreshment. Lea Ann always had a listening ear and encouragement for friends who just needed to talk. Lea Ann was always ready for a new adventure or a road trip to explore unfamiliar places and people. She loved the beach or a pool and a good Mexican restaurant. Lea Ann will be missed by her friends and family, but now she is in heaven with her father, brother, and daughter Terra and watching over all of us. Lea Ann never said a harsh word to anyone, the definition of “Angel” is “A person of exemplary conduct or virtue.” This describes Lea Ann in life, and now as a heavenly angel. She was a light in our lives who will be dearly missed and remembered. She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Miller; brother, Mark Miller; daughter, Terra Lea Sterling; paternal grandparents, Reace and Bonnie Miller; and grandmother, Margaret West. Lea Ann is survived by her loving husband, Terry Sterling; son, Winston J. Sterling; grandson, Jordon Sterling; mother, Charlotte Miller; brother, Micheal Miller; lifelong friend, Pam Ballew; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church stained glass window fund at: 600 E Okmulgee St Muskogee, Ok 74403. A celebration of Lea Ann’s life will be 10M, Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patrick D. McPherson.
