LeMar Davis

LeMar Davis, 68, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. Born on February 21, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, LeMar was the cherished child of David Lee Davis Jr. and Mary (Ivy) Davis. A proud graduate of Wagoner High School's class of 1975, LeMar continued his academic journey at Langston University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in music. During his college years, he was an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Beta Kappa chapter, forming bonds and memories that lasted his lifetime. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Evelyn Hollifield, on January 1, 2016 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 9 years of life, family and marriage together. LeMar’s heart beat with a passion for music. From singing in the choir as a child to performing at countless community events, music was the steady thread woven through the fabric of his life. He found special joy in the soulful artistry of Gladys Knight and The Temptations, whose melodies often filled his home and gatherings. Professionally, LeMar dedicated himself to caring for others. He served as a supervisor and manager at special needs group homes, touching many lives through his compassion and leadership. He later retired from Starkey Inc., having left a lasting impact on colleagues and residents alike. LeMar’s curiosity and adventurous spirit led him to become a storm chaser and a photographer for Channel 9 in Oklahoma City, capturing nature’s awe and fury through his lens. His commitment to community uplift was evident in his role working for the Urban League and his role as a recruiter at his beloved alma mater, Langston University. LeMar was a lifelong devotee of the Kansas City Chiefs, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty through victories and defeats. His friendships were marked by warmth, laughter, and a genuine concern for all he met. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his devotion to service, his musical gifts, and his vibrant zest for life. The legacy LeMar leaves behind is one of kindness, creativity, and strength. He will forever be remembered as a loving, dedicated husband, father, Paw Paw and friend. LeMar was preceded in death by his parents, David Lee Davis Jr. and Mary (Ivy) Davis; his son, Shawn Del Davis; his grandfather, Davis Lee Davis Sr.; his grandparents, TWillie and Phillip Love and Dessie and Willie Ivy Sr.; his brothers, Austin “Pee Wee” Davis, and Larry Davis; brother-in-law, Henry Frye; uncles, Hirby Ivy, Willie Ivy Jr. and Elmer “Fudd” Ivy. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer of the home; daughters, Che’Kita LaToya Davis of OKC, OK, Madison Davis of Wichita, KS, and Ciera Whitacre and husband David of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Brenda Davis of Wagoner, OK and Patricia Davis Frye; brother, Anthony “Tony” Davis of Camden, AR; sister-in-law, Elaine Davis of OKC, OK. He loved being a Paw Paw to his grandchildren, Dane Xavier Blaze, Mayola James and Charles David Whitacre. He had sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many more family members and friends. Special recognitions: Terrel Harris, Tasona and Dehaverlin Hanna and family; Vernon “Boda” Davis, LC and Terri Ivy, Ira Johnson, Bernice Cope and Maxine Jennings and family. The family will have a private celebration of LeMar’s life at a later date.
